Add CDX to the services as well. 
Also, we purchase CDs from amazon.com as needed. I have to be careful at amazon... so much music, so little time.
The Time-Life CD series are tempting, too. We have an '80s collection from TL that we use a lot.

The beat 80's collection I've run across is from Rhino. the Omigod, The 80's Pop Culture Box Set Totally!
It's 7 CDs and there aren't very many duds on there

I buy all my music from retail stores. I used iTunes for a while but quickly tired of burning and reripping to be DRM free. I paid for the track I should be able to move it around.

I use itunes sometimes to make a cd here and there and I make the cd cover and make my own monthly cd's. I think it sucks I have to rip it back in to change the itunes file to a mp3.
there has been posts of some software that shows up as a drive, allows you to burn to that drive, and it will magically take the .iso file and if it's an audio track, turn it into an mp3, or allow you to rip it in, without sacrificing a cd. Don't ask where to find it, i haven't looked nor is it a priority. I couldn't even fatom what to google for.
I was with Promo Only for a while, but changed to TMCentury. Nothing wong with Promo Only just TMCentury better fit my needs. Wally-mart and I-tunes rarely these days. I still find myself slipping into the pawn shops and picking up CDs that I really don't need but get anyway; I'm a junky!
TMC is a nice service if you need weekly music updates. At one time they were running at $99.00 per year if you paid up front for a three year contract.
