This is a first for me. :sqerr:
A MOG wants to use this song for the Mother-Son dance. While I remember the song from my younger daze (ahh, the partial memories :sqconfused:), I listened to it again while unloading from last night's wedding and all I heard were references to houses of prostitution, gambling, breaking the law, and going to jail.

I've known both the MOG and the FOG since before the groom was a tadpole, and they are none of the above. He is a retired Fireman.

I'm going to ask if there was a special reason for wanting this particular song, and will remind her of the song content & suggest something more traditional and law-abiding.

Interesting...

The song is talking about the evils of these things and what becomes of those who so indulge.

But I say go with Kirby on this one! :sqwink:

New one on me too. I would, however, double check the version. Though made famous by The Animals, in my day the most popular version ( and later) was by Frijid Pink....... Just a thought.

I think some people just like the song and don't really care what the words are or what the song's about. If someone requested it, I'd have no problem playing it.

I'm guessing the song brings her back to when her son was born or was little. It was very popular. I think we all have songs that reminds us of times in our life.

Personally, I would not suggest she change it. She either never listened to the song close enough to analyze it, or doesn't care. I won't change that for her. I would think differently if there was blatent bad language in the song.

Whenever I hear the song "Money for nothing" by dire straits, it reminds me of a girl I was dating back then. That song just seemed to be on all the time when we were together. It's got nothing to do with the song or the meaning of the song itself.

Me either...

Maybe he was conceived to that song?:sqconfused:

Though a lithe cat of a man now (snicker), I was a somewhat, um..husky...kid. My big brother swore that I was conceived to "Sixteen Tons". It's ok. I'm......fine now...really... Mom always liked him best....
