I had an "old friend" call that I haven't talked with in a while and the conversation got around to my DJ business. He said that he recently got an I-pod and wanted to know if he could come over sometime and "let" me fill his brand new I-pod with music. I declined and explained the simple legalities and moral reasons as to why I couldn't and he "all-of-a-sudden" had to go...geesh!

Anyone else had this happen to them...thx

I haven't had that. I did have a non techie friend "offer" me all their CDs to copy on my HD in exchange for putting it all on their iPod. And she has hundreds of CDs. I had to decline....

Not only would it be too much work, it would be too tempting for me to "borrow" a few hundred songs! :sqwink: :sqlaugh:

I have a friend who asked me that.....I've been able to skirt around it so far. I want to say...."man, you're a friend, but that music cost me $---- thousands of dollars and it's my business"

I've tried to borrow tools from a carpenter friend...No way.....

Although the interesting part is...if I wasn't in the biz, I might very well not have as much of an issue.

I have to think on this.....

if my best friend asked.....or a fringe friend... two different responces....

Haven't talked for a while.

Started with some "catching up"/"small talk"

Just HAPPENED to get around to your DJ business ("oh...by the way...no...this was not planned")

Probably would not have called you otherwise.

Probably would even say something like, "I would do it for you, Brother," but it is SAFE to say since that would NEVER be required of him.

No. Don't do it.

YES. I have had friends use me (not for anything to do with I-Pods, though)

All through my teenage years even when I wasn't a DJ my friends asked to borrow CDs for their cars or parties. Nope, no way never! I seen how badly my friends treated their own stuff, how are the going to treat my CDs? Where ever my CD books went I went.

For a while, I was grabbing songs off iTunes here and there, burning them and sending them along to my friends and their wives as gifts.

To just copy my hard earned CDs for them for their enjoyment isn't right. 1 friend is a mechinac I wouldn't ask to borrow his tire balancing machine.

Thanks, Eddie.

If a "friend" is interested in your music library and what he can get for free he ain't much of a friend.

I have received queries from compadres concerning certain hard-to-find tracks and promotional-only releases.

Ain't got it, sorry. ;)
