Do you send out Christmas cards?

I send out cards to other vendors that I have worked with/ they have sent me business over the past year. (Photog., videographers, venue mgrs, other DJs, Etc.) I have also sent out a handful of cards to the repeat customers.

I used to send out tons of cards, but backed off over time.

Since this is our first full year back in the business we haven't sent any holiday cards out. Maybe next year.

The anniversary card might be a possibility for us also.

I have sent out ecards every Christmas through a company I have a service with to every client that has ever used my company.

Thinking about breaking down and sending real ones, man it is so much work during the holiday season.

I send out cards to all the attendees and supporters of the Computer DJ SUMMIT

I've sent out cards to ALL my past clients for the past few years. I included a 10% coupon too.

So far it's proved to be a failure since I haven't heard anything back.

At this point in the month I don't think it's wise to send something anyway. The next two weeks are the BUSIEST times for people sending cards and each day they will receive a bunch. Your card will just just tossed aside and forgotten just like the rest.

If you truly want to have a card that people will remember than you should send it at the beginning of December so people will have time to notice it. It won;t simply get lost in the crowd.

If you want to take it a step further then try sending cards at other keys times during the year. How about sending one out at the end of January with a Superbowl theme? One at the end of June for July 4? These would surely work better than a Christmas card.

Sounds like what my insurance man & realitor do.
I must admit, it gets to the point where I don't even read their cards (easter, Thanksgiving, Etc.) I just pitch 'em. Oversaturated & becomes another souce of junk mail.

I don't send cards during the year, but if you think it's oversaturation to send cards for other holidays then why do you send out cards during the holiday season?

Would it be a bad idea to send them AFTER the holidays, say, early january, wishing them a happy post-holiday season? I might consider this.

Wonderful idea.

Rather than, or alongside, wishing them "a happy post-holiday season", I think you should consider focussing on wishing them a prosperous NEW season (the year).

I never understood why several of my wedding clients from the distant past always send a christmas card every year. I mean I have watched some of their kids grow up with the photos they send in the cards.

Well this morning I was discussing this thread with my wife and found out why........... She has been sending Cards to every single one of my clients from the calendar list (names and addresses are there). She tells me she sends out a card to each client in that year, each one that responds she sends a card to the next year. Counting them up from those already received this year that is 11 people reciprocating, 8 of those are repeats from previous years, one client was from 13 years ago.

For At Least 13 Years, Eh?

Good to see this thread opened a door to some communication, eh?

I like this idea of sending greetings to the clients for the New Year!

As we know all people do not observe all the same holidays and this way one could avoid "offending" people.

I think the only problem is that we would need to mark the Chinese New Year on our calendars also!

Thanks,
