Most of us have traveled a DJ-related message board or two in our lifetimes.

Most of us in those travels have seen a thread or two asking for a review of the poster's website.

Almost always, we hear another DJ mention something about "colors" being...

...well nasty.

Here's a little info portal on things to think about when designing your marketing materials and / or websites.

Green - symbolises the fertile soils of A DJ REVOLUTION's landscape

Gold - symbolises the value of the customers

Red - the blood we shed upon all our enemies

Black - it's cool

what does Blue do, cause I have a lot of it on my site

Blue is a relaxing colour--makes people feel at ease.

A wise choice--to make our enemies feel relaxed, and loosen their guards...before we attack!

:rawrrrrr:

Hi Ken,

Great info thank you! I read the article.

I have read other marketing material regarding color. Quite a few years back it was stated that red on white was supposed to be one of the most effective colors in marketing. So as far as defining the most effective colors in marketing what are they?

I'll state a fact, try to create a brand look for yourself. Think about barbies for instance, the pink color we naturally associate with them. How hard would it be to associate purple with them, it would be near impossible without reading the text. Thus, I'm working on schemes to make sure my marketing packets, buisness cards, and banners all contain the same look across the board.

Don't confuse the customers ;) - Tip of the Day

I love that "spin the color wheel!!!" That's cool!

Interesting reading Ken, I have a couple of similar sites bookmarked that I've posted elsewhere:

This first thing I learned about The Psychology of Colors was when I took a class to become a teacher's aide. The instructor said Yellow stimulates the brain for learning, I found that interesting and did a lot of research afterwards, most of it already forgotten.

Maybe our color scheme should be yellow and blue? :)

Thanks,
Dan

I've tried to keep a theme...shades of mauve, purple, blues (very pastel). I actually got the idea from Shaun aka Scotch, who did my logo and cards. He said it was a "bride-friendly" colour....the colours grew on me, so I've kept them. I try to stay away from anything outrageous when contemplating changes to my material. In fact my revised web page reflects the same colours......
