Bose S1 loudness?

Not IMO! you are forced to stand next to the speaker for controls on the back, which can be a bad thing, depending the venue and layout. The way described above allows you to setup in the back with multiple mic receivers and music source, and then send a wireless signal to the S1 (placed anywhere you want).

You do it your way.................

Does the S1 require a special pole or is it standard 1.5"?

ya, i don't like to be in the pictures, plus I like the added control of a small mixer for processing the sound better.

I also almost always run 2 mics, but have 3 hooked up.

All you need to do is invest in a wireless transmitter so you can transmit the signal from a small ceremony rack.

It is standard pole. Looks best with Gravity stand.

but all going through the S1 (using the inputs on back)?

Yep, channels 1 and 2 for mics, channel 3 aux for music...channel 3 is aux or Bluetooth, unlike the compact that has the aux in channel 2

My problem is that there is no true battery meter. You just have to watch how many times the LED blinks. A true battery level indicator would be amazing.

Other than that, we use it for every ceremony. Up to 300 People. Always use an external mixer.
Use the app. It has a battery meter. Not ideal, but better than the flashing lights.

But the reality is, when they are charged up before a gig, I really don't worry about it any more.

No mixer for me on the ceremony. I go raw, baby, Raw!!

It might be just the way I do things, but I put a premium on being able to pack up the ceremony stuff quickly and get the cocktail hour started.

I think the music sounds fine and the mics sound great right through the unit. Channels 1 and 2 have a tone match setting for mics. I'm all about not setting up equipment I can do without.

I do like how you can control bass and trebble from the two inputs for mics, but the aux doesn't have any controls, and from my testing, sometimes I would like to turn down the bass. Depending on what phone and what app, that's not always available

I typically use an iPad and djay app. Have EQ controls on there if needed.

The cost of one compact is almost equal to a pair of S1. If bass response and power is the concern, then the F1 812 is a far better option than the Compact for a couple of hundred bucks more.

In all my applications, the L1 Compact is the least ideal Bose product of all their speakers currently available.

I hear you brother. Still love my compacts though. But they dont get add much usage since the s1's.

F1's are just not for me. Much rather use the l1's.

Cost aside, the Compact, IMO is much better from a visual standpoint, and has more flexibility than the S1 or F1 in the situation we are describing.

1. I got so used to the nice look of no speaker stands with the L1, I am not a fan of using speaker stands anymore. The Compact has a MUCH nicer appearance.

2. I use the extensions of the compact to mount my wireless antennas. The QLXD receiver mounts to the base of the compact. It's all premiered and configured, and really easy to configure (harder with speaker stand).

3. I am using these for ceremony, cocktail, dinner, and fill for my main DJ setup. I have 4 of them and use almost all 4 at every gig. Always 2.

I actually still think the L1 Compact is the most versatile speaker. I am not looking for dance volume stuff (just background), so I don't need the F1 or something bigger.
