Gang -Not sure if this was asked before, but being how DVDs are only 720x480, what is the ideal specs (bps, frame rate, etc) when encoding DVD VOB to MP4?I have found utoob 720p downloads play quite well w/ small file size.I could just use the VOB, but enjoy the tagging provided by MP4.What say ya'll?Thanks!!!

For converting any video files, I've had great luck with freeware app "HandBrake".

Very easy to use, and includes several popular video "profiles" (e.g. iPad, etc).

Use Google to find it's website

Thanks. I have 'the tools', just wondered about bit rate settings and etc. One can never get more, but certainly don't want any less as well. :)

I use DVDFAB to ripp off my dvds and convert them at the same time

its all up to you on what you need to create it for!

Codec - H.264/MPEG4 AVC Video (*.mp4)

Video Size - 640 x 360
Bit Rate - 4000K
Frame Rate - 29.97fps
Preset - Fast
Profile - Main
Zoom - Full (Keep aspect ratio)
Aspect Ratio - Auto
Same Quality - Yes
Two Pass - Yes No (your choice, mine is No)
Encode Mode - CBR or VBR (your choice, mine is CBR)
Audio - MPEG-4 AAC
Sample Rate - 44100
Bit Rate - 224K
Channels - Stereo
Volume - 100%

These settings help reduce or eliminate letter boxing, gives a very good picture reproduction on a 60" l.e.d. tv however at 4000K, file sizes are larger/bigger than ordinary so if file space is an issue, knock it back to 3000K on the video and 192K on the audio.
