It's at 7:00pm at the Crown Plaza in Edison, just a couple miles from where the NJ Turnpike, GS Parkway and Route 287 meet.

Directions: http://cpedison.com/directions.php
FYI: It's across the street from our other usual meeting location, the Pines Manor.

I'll be there. Hope you can be there too.

FYI: Here's the President's email about it:
I hope you all had a great holiday season and a happy new year. I hope you all continue to prosper in the upcoming year.

Well, another year has come and it's time to get back to the business of making the New Jersey Disc Jockey Network the best it can possibly be. There are already a lot of great things on hand and coming up over the next several months. I think you'll all be pleased by the educational, entertaining, and interesting roads we will continue to travel.

I would first like to thank everyone who made it to the NJDJN holiday dinner at the Cambridge Inn on December 9. Laura Gibbons did a great job of setting it up and I think everyone had a really wonderful time.

I hope you all enjoy our first meeting of the new year as we present a two pronged plan that will be part business building and part entertainer optimization. The first part will be business as Steve Cie will give a short dissertation on search engine optimization for web sites. Steve will be giving a "how to's" of search engine optimization. Steve will show you a few simple things you can do to improve the grade of your web sites, thereby making your web sites more attractive to the search engines on the web. He will highlight HUBSPOT and ALEXA. There will be a brief explanation of KEYWORDS, META TAGS, PAGE RANK, and how they affect the rankings of your web site, and some of the things you can do to improve your site using these three important ingredients of SEO. Steve will also explain OFF-PAGE SEO - the things you do to promote your website outside the design of the website itself. Steve is really knowledgeable about all of this and his own web site is ranked incredibly high in the search engines. He fascinates me everytime I discuss all of this with him and I think he can help us all.

The second part of the meeting will be based on "Presentation Techniques". We will be asking YOU to demonstrate things you do at events that you find successful. How do YOU do a wedding introductions? How do YOU do the centerpiece giveaway? How do YOU introduce or handle candle lighting? Are there any interesting ideas you have that make your events better that you would be willing to share? We will talk about things we all take for granted. Mike Wieder and I were discussing this and we were both saying how we have pretty much done the same things for years. I would imagine many of us have. Why not pick each other's brains to come up with new, fun ways to do what we all do constantly? It will be interesting to see the subtle differences in various presentation. Obviously, you don't have to participate if you don't want, but this is a great chance to get better at your events by picking up some tidbits on how others do things a little differently.

The meeting will be at the Crown Plaza on Route 27 in Edison on Tuesday, January 13. Netwoking begins at 7 with the meeting coming to order at 7:30. Please remember the dress code. As always, many of us meet for a pre-meeting dinner at the Plaza Diner across the street from the Crown Plaza. The earliest of us usually begin to arrive around 5 o'clock. If you've never been to one of these dinners before, please feel free to join us.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Regards,

Darryl "Jake" Jacobsen
President
