I know we can see that by viewing the public profile.... but is there a way to have that info added under an avatar?

Yes, but it would slow the site down considerably. Every post on each page would have an extra database query.
It's a good idea. 
I've thought about it too, as a matter of fact I've thought about adding lots of stuff to postbit (area below the avatar) however the performance hit is always a consideration. Right now we're doing great server wise but down the road as we grow, I don't want to take features away after people get used to them and wind up being the big bad Grinch.
For that reason, I didn't add back everyone's real name after our latest upgrade. It still remains in your profile but there's not much of a use for it on postbit.
