I know what I would do so don't try and turn the question

Turning the question around and mis-directing is what you do best in these types of discussions. Payback.

As for me, I'd fulfill my contract but even now, you're trying another mis-direct. This is an event that YOU are promoting. It's YOUR idea. When there were those of us who said they wouldn't do what you're doing, out of respect for our wives, you starting throwing out insults. Get off your high horse.

A lot of the discussion surrounded that some say they would not DJ that Event. I know that there are few Event Creators on this Board so that line of thought does not apply.

So, you're saying that we should be having discussions in this forum which pertain to the majority of participants, correct?
I did not say that at all. You misinterpreted the substance of the discussion.

So far there are several Social Groups who have taken up the idea to participate, couples and singles. Here is what one of them used as a Pic for their Page Invite!

This illustrates my point that you just don't get it. The issue isn't what people are or not wearing, it's about respecting your spouse. If a Hawaiian theme offended my wife then I wouldn't do it either. I've also had gay inquiries as well, and would've done them, but given that it offends my wife, I'll pass. I realize that you seem to think your divorce is completely disconnected but it's quite likely that your attitude and callous disregard towards her feelings likely played a role in it.

Now as for what would I do if they didn't tell me ahead of time. Aren't you the guy who's always harping on being prepared? How in the world could you consider not doing enough diligence that you wouldn't know the theme when you booked the event?
Ricky you missed something else. What about buying gear without telling your wife. I've never been married but I'll say this that there are things that need to be taken care of to maintain a liveable life style. Such as the mortgage/rent needs to be paid. Food has to bought. Gas and electric is another bill that should be handled. What about making sure where you live at you have heat and hot water.

What I'm basically saying is that with being married comes responsibilities. So that should come first before buying more gear. I have a friend of mine that's a DJ who is married and he has to sometimes hide certain purchases for the business from his wife to keep the argument down. One thing I know first hand is this business can become addictive. I've had to prioritize some things. Is it something that's really necessary or something I'm just obsessing over? All the time manufactuers keep coming up with new items to entice someone to buy the latest gadget. A good example is they keep coming up with a new controller. Do I go buy the latest one out on the market or stick with what I got. The one I have works great. So no need to just buy one for the hell of it. I'll say that even if I ran into a wind fall unless I was buying one for backup.

Myself I can do certain things because I'm not married. If I were to get married that would change things.

OK This Thread is going nowhere real fast! Lets all agree to disagree. This kind of Themed Event whether as Producer, Promoter, Entertainer, DJ or otherwise is not for everybody.

Actually, I don't agree to disagree with that statement.
You are correct!
And THAT is exactly what we have been trying to say.

I said in an earlier post I have done one of these before and it was actually one of the first gigs I did when I started up my business again. My wife was aware of the event, thought it hilarious, and even attended the event with me... (just as a note... she did not participate, but did help judge the contest.) I did find some of the pics from the event (http://s1354.beta.photobucket.com/user/RCBAudio/library/DJ%20OLacy_200908_Pimp_and_Ho) interestingly enough... there were a lot more female participants then there were male. I will say though that if my wife found an event offensive I would not do it, because odds are if she found it offensive I probably would as well.

You are correct Ron. I believe it is more erroneous perception because of the Title of the Theme. I see nothing abnormal in the pics you posted. Hell there is a Club that I know where the women dress even more skimpy on a regular basis.

Canute, I have a few questions.

What is the name of the venue where this event is going to take place?
May we see some of the promo marterial you've been distributing?
How much are you charging for admission?
What are your attendence projections?
Who is going to be the DJ?(I'm assuming you'll have a DJ)
What is your advertising budget?
Why don't you think you'll need insurance when you are the one promoting this event?
What do your sponsors get out of this?
Why would a bar owner give you a % of the bar receipt?(that is not common in my area)
Do ODJT members get in free?

Oh and do you need a partner?, I know of someone whos always looking for partners.:D

Canute, I have a few questions.

What is the name of the venue where this event is going to take place? It is a Restaurant/Club with stage and beautiful Mahogany decor. I will refrain from posting the name here because so many think that it is offensive and therefore I don't want anything negative to be linked to the Establishment and Event.

May we see some of the promo marterial you've been distributing? All done through Text Alerts, Social Online Groups to which I belong including Facebook and other Organizers of Online Social Groups.
How much are you charging for admission? No Cover Charge this time.
What are your attendence projections? 300-400 people
Who is going to be the DJ?(I'm assuming you'll have a DJ) I will be the DJ
What is your advertising budget? Very minimal.
Why don't you think you'll need insurance when you are the one promoting this event? I am not promoting, I am simply sharing information of an Event taking Place at someone's establishment.
What do your sponsors get out of this? Exposure and a Mailing/E-Mail List
Why would a bar owner give you a % of the bar receipt?(that is not common in my area) Because without that Event he would probably be closed after 9.00pm. I am bringing him revenue.
Do ODJT members get in free? It is open to the Public.

Oh and do you need a partner?, I know of someone whos always looking for partners.Partner in what?:D
Answers in red.

You can't tell us where this event is going to take place because the name of the venue may be offensive? Are you kidding me?

That is not what I wrote or meant.
