I'd like you all to extend a warm welcome to a good friend of mine, kevjvan.

I told him to join the friendliest, most informational DJ forum on the net. He's just getting his feet wet in the DJ realm but is a quick learner.

We also spend a lot of time at a forum about outdoor movies and he has one of the most innovative retractable screen designs I've ever seen.

How blessed am I for having a Hired as a buddy?

Just so you know I’m not a pro DJ by any means and have no immediate plans of becoming one.

I once thought that I could possibly make some extra coin on the side because my job at Ford is in jeopardy. After much research I found it takes more than a laptop and speakers to be a DJ. If I was ever able to do it, I would want to do it right with a solid business plan. The startup costs for things like music, gear, marketing, and insurance are way outside my budget.

We do however have tons of family fun with our outdoor movie theater and part of that is some entry level audio gear. So I get to play DJ for my 3 kids and their friends on a regular basis. I also have done a few offsite parties for my close friends and family.

So I’m here to learn from the best. I really enjoy this stuff and hope to build my system and talent up as my budget allows. I absolutely love audio gear! I’m addicted!

Welcome aboard Kevin. You already have Keith in your corner so your off to a good start. :) We have some pros here, some part-timers, some hobbyists, and some that aren't even DJs they just keep coming back to hang out at the pub. ;) I'm sure you will fit right in.
