Vinyl is dead, long live vinyl.....

Not to hi-jack the thread with a general, legit, and not-at-all baiting question, but-- Has Stanton improved it's quality/quality control over the last several years? I know they had some iffy product (I've still got some pretty expensive headphones with beautiful leather pouch that didn't work from day one, but they were purchased quite a few years ago). I remember a lot of the DJ's used to complain about Stanton, but maybe they got a bad-rap based on a few sketchy products (not unlike Behringer, which does make some excellent items, but can't seem to shake the "cheeseball" rep)??

Anyone with insight?

Numark TTXUSB Professional Direct Drive TurnTable With USB Turn Table Vinyl TTX

Product Information:

A MODERN CLASSIC WITH COMPUTER CONNECTIVITY.

The TTXUSB stands alone among professional turntables because it was exclusively designed for the modern DJ, with a silicon rubber base that absorbs vibration and dampens low end feedback, and an interchangeable tone arm system that adapts to any DJ style. The TTXUSB, like its predecesor, features user-variable torque. The TTXUSB also delivers versatility and control thanks to an illuminated output bay, a built-in BPM counter, and interchangeable S-shaped or straight tonearms. Best of all, the TTXUSB's built-in USB connector simplifies connection to a computer for fast, professional grade vinyl-to-digital transfer.

As an added benefit, vinyl-to-digital conversion takes just a few mouse clicks thanks to the bundled EZ Vinyl Converter software; a new program available exclusively to Numark that quickly converts vinyl tracks directly to iTunes.

Additional features include digital outputs for direct sampling, Key Lock and ±50% pitch control for unprecedented mixing options. The TTXUSB remains ahead of the game and delivers a new standard in turntables by expanding the possibilities of vinyl.

Dennis...have you seen this unit and lifted it? Is it as heavy as the TTX1? If it's similar I may get one to make it easier to record to CD and simply play music. I really like the TTX1. Since I still do an occasional all vinyl (45's) event, the USB model would take the place of the Dual Direct Drive. I would have two great TT. Besides, the newer mixers are no longer giving you the RCA phono inputs, but having digital inputs.

Here's a site that caters primarily to turntables (you can probably get lower prices elsewhere, but they have a huge selection) ..

These are the USB tables they cary: http://www.needledoctor.com/Online-Store/USB-Turntables?sort1desc=F&sort1=Item_ONLINECUSTOMERPRICE

You can also get a normal table and a USB preamp (Behringer, Rolls, Alesis, etc. all make one).

But of course, if money is no object ... try: http://www.needledoctor.com/Clearaudio-Statement-Turntable?sc=2&category=347 a steal at only $170,000.

Actually this isnt for using out at gigs, this is for home use, where I can use it for transferring some unique Vinyl to Computer

oh and dont forget how long I have been Djing for, well over 37 years
so there isnt much you can say to me in this issue!

oh yeah and they say that Vinyl isnt dead yet!

read this

Sales of vinyl records in the UK have increased more than 270% over the past 5 years, according to industry data. The return of 'analogue' and the art form is giving new hope to an embattled music industry. Have you ever bought a vinyl record? What was it?

also a video on the subject

LOL.
Vinyl is DEAD.

Did you miss the data about the factory pressing a million pieces of vinyl each year? It used to pres 20 million per year. Sorry 10% 270% blah, blah. blah... not only is that not growth - it's not even a recovery!

I know it's cool to be the contrarian and everything, but you're dead wrong here. Read the stats from the last 5-10 years. Read the articles (they're everywhere). Talk to the kids (buying vinyl at actual record stores).

More importantly, visit a place like United Pressing in Nashville that is pumping-out vinyl hand-over-fist 24/7.

Thems the facts.

Sure wish I could get some current music on 45 rpm. The last year I was able to buy new 45's was in 2004 because my source in Boston went out of business. He supplied many of the lounges with current music back then while CD jukeboxes were replacing the AMI-Rowe and others. I bought a few current duplicates back in 2004 and put them in my home jukebox. As I glance over to my jukebox I see "All or Nothing At All" by O-Town and "I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden. I have hundreds of brand new 45's from 2000 through 2004 that are in near mint condition, and thousands of 1990's that are also new. When I retire from being a DJ I will load up the jukebox with plenty of music from the 90's and 2000-2004.

Vinyl is definitely not dead to me!

Those look more like vinyl time-code discs.

But...I spin vinyl 45 r.p.m. records, not LP. Could if needed as I have several hundred mint-condition 33 r.p.m. records too. Good to see that vinyl is still being played, but not scratched (ruined...in my book).

Then you need to pry these out of Bizmarkie's hands... And yes they are real and only 2 was ever made.
