I used to keep a backup hard disc in my safety deposit box at the bank ..
I still keep a backup disc in my safety deposit box. I have several copies of my music library, but that's the only off-site copy. I was just thinking about having to get all of my copies back in sync, and it's a bit of an ordeal. I have my original library on my Linux home server, then I have two backup hard drives I rotate every two weeks to the safety deposit box. Then I have my main DJ PC in my rack with a copy on the second internal hard drive, and a second PC for video in the same rack contains a copy, which is my live backup. I have a small rack with a PC containing anther copy, and another copy on the laptop, which serves as the backup for my small system. Finally, I just set up a Windows Home Server, and copied the Music Library to it too.[emoji1] Gonna take a while to get all the new music I've bought in the last couple of months on all these darn computers.[emoji1]

I took back the HD .. I am flanked right now with a 4Tb external, 2 2Tb internals in the tower, 10Tb (2x2Tb, 2x3Tb) in a mirrored NAS, 6Tb (4 and 2) in an external dock .. and crap all over the place.

That was my goal over the winter to get everything in place, backed up to the NAS and on the external (and back to the SD box) .. didn't happen. My music is coming close to 3+Tb (due to excessive "dance" versions which need to go), photos over 1.5 Tb and movies topping 2Tb. My plan was to get everything onto the 4Tb and a 2Tb and into the tower.

It's time consuming to set everything up and to manage all the backups appropriately. I don't have my movies backed up... I don't have much in the way of digital photos. Someday I hope to scan all my photos (prints), but it's more likely I'll die before that happens[emoji1].

I still shoot a lot of sports .. 2300 images at a track meet a couple weeks back .. I only keep maybe 300, but that's 3Gb or so per meet/game and I do 50+ a year .. so over the past 7-8 years it adds up... I may be one of Facebook's heaviest users of photos .. I probably have over 20,000 photos uploaded to it .. it was over 15K 2 years ago.

I have done extensive research on my family history, I know quite a bit about my relatives dating back to the early 1700's, I have spent countless hours on line and in person doing the research, I am happy that I have found quite a few old pictures they are very interesting and help tell the story of where I came from, as you get older you heritage may become more important to you. I have pictures of me sitting on my great grandfathers lap, I cherich thing like this and it has made me realize how important photos are not just digital ones
