In all these outdoor Christmas light shows people do, I am looking for a certain effect. The strobe or flash bulb effect. You can see the effect in these videos.

In the first one the effect is in the tree in the middle of the display. The flashes go off at :14, :22, :28 and :40 (just so you know what I'm talking about, no need to watch the whole video)

In this second video, the effect is also in the tree in the middle as well as the two smaller trees on the left and the two smaller trees by the front door. The flashes go off right at the begining and again at :38.

I know there are better video representations of this effect out there, I just did a quick search for video. If nobody knows what I'm talking about then I'll look for more video.

I need to string an entire tree with that effect and have complete control over them. (No, I am not doing a light show in my front yard)
I doubt they are individual strobe lights...I've seen rows of them around a garage in another video, so they must come stringed. Anybody know what the effect is and where to find it?
Much appreciated.

It's just LEDs. The dramatic flash you see is the camera adjusting to the increased light when the LED all pop. Chauvet offers the ST-3000 LED Strobe, which actually works surprisingly well... but in this instance, you'd just bring up white LEDs (preferably) to full intensity and you'll get that strobing look.

ColorKinetics offers some really powerful ways to network lots of LEDs together, they are IP based. The outside of the Disney castle is CK LEDs, for example.

Yes, yes...that is the effect. Like I said I would need them stringed together and able to control speed of strobe in sections. I have found a source for mini outdoor strobe lights the fit into a standard C9 light string, however that would only give me the ability to turn them on or off, not control speed...am I right?
