Got to stretch out the K10s last night

When I bought my JBL PRX, it came down to those, the ELX and the K12. Each sounded different set flat .. The EV had a DJ freq curve (smiley face), the k12 had a vocal curve (frowny face - extended mids) and the JBLs were flattest. Since at the time I was looking for both needs (live and Memorex) I went with the JBLs. I also thought they had the better finish .. I moved the EV in the store and chipped a small piece of the paint off ... The K12 was already scuffed just in the few weeks it was in the GC show room.

I also like the JBL's. Course, it also helps that they use Crown amps.

:D

I ABed the QSCs against the JBL Prx series at Guitar Center. It wasn't even close. The QSC tone is, in my opinion, superior to the JBL. I kept noticing the QSCs seemed louder so I figured the GC guys had the QSCs cranked. It was the opposite. The QSCs were sitting at half-open while the JBL cabs were wide open. There was also a pronounced difference in the voicing of the PRX cabs. The 12s had that nasally thing that annoys the crap out of me. The 10s were better, but weak. Again, just my opinion but do yourself a favor and go listen to them side by side.

The 600 series did .. The newer 700 does not, though I suspect it is still Crown basic tech in there. They have resurrected the Crown amps in the new powered SRX800 series.

Great looking setup. One Why do some of you insist on calling the Denon DJ MC6000 a mixer. It's not a mixer. It's a controller. If it were a mixer you would need something else to use to play the music. It's a all in one unit. I have it and it's a great unit. I have a backup Pioneer controller but like I said it's for backup. I know there are many others out there but I happen to love the Denon! Easy to use and easy setup. Too bad they discontinued it. Companies do stupid things like this all the time. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Mix, do you understand what the term 'all in one' means?

I'd be interested to hear the 600s. I didn't mention that when I was trying out the JBLs I was really impressed with the EONs. They sounded just about as good as the PRX series and seemed to have more punch. If the weight had been down more towards the QSC I probably would've gotten 4 of those instead of a pair of K10s.

Just got back from the Vegas conference ... the AV contractor was still using QSC K12, JBL PRX612, Yamaha DXR12 and JBL EONs for all break out sessions (we had sveral dozen rooms going simultaneously.

I haven't compared the 612 to the 712, though I have heard the other 700 members and they sound "punchier" .. whereas the 600 series was fairly even tempered.

I never much liked the sound of the EONs, but they have a whole new family of them and I haven't heard them yet.

Check them out. I've never been much a fan of EONs but it surprised me at how good they sounded, especially in relation to how much they cost.

Yes I do and like I said I have that exact controller. The only thing is if it had dual CD players built in like the Numark. The thing is that controller is more than just a mixer. A mixer would mean you have no way of producing any music unless you hook up another source to it that will produce sound so music can be played. I was just referring to him calling it a mixer.

It has the ability to mix, therefore it IS a mixer. It can also control, making it a controller too.

My Vestax VCI is a controller as well, which also has mixing capabilities, of both virtual and real sources.

Yes with those you can add additional sources to the different channels. Thus the mixer effect.

The MC6000 is no different. The 'mixer' portion has 4 channels for 8 sources and 2 microphones.

The only reason we're having this discussion is because you said 'it's not a mixer'. It is a mixer .. and a controller .. and any other component that they decided to add to it.

That's like the first mixer I bought, only mine is white. I bought two subs like these...

but could NOT figure out how to hook up them up to the mixer. I worked on it for weeks... until the subs started stinking and I had to throw them away.:)

I'd show you a picture of my cable, but I don't want to brag.
