Mix, You are definitely on the path to fame and fortune. Now your partners girl needs to start a reality show about your life. Maybe call it Jersey Hood (since Jersey Shore is taken).

Sarcasm is a fine art and should be treated as such ;)

You are a dj that tries to play in clubs and bars.....but think its stupid for anyone to pay the typical mark up for a drink in that bar or club?

Have you ever heard Peyton Manning say in an interview that people are stupid for paying $8 for a hot dog at a stadium?
Let me set the record straight. I don't try to play in clubs or bars. I have this one bar in Orange, NJ called The Private Place Lounge that the manager there will call me to see if I'm available to play in that place. The address is 29 South Center Street. On nights that I'm available I will play there because I like the place. The atmosphere is very nice and I don't worry about a fight breaking out or any such thing happening in this place. I've only know the cops to show up in this place once. That was because the people inside were taking to long to leave. I was playing that night and the whole bar other then the people working there (myself included when I'm working) are allowed to be in the bar after 2am.

I used to be into looking for a bar or club to play at on a weekly bases. I stopped looking because of 2 reasons. First a lot of these places already have a DJ and 2 a lot of these places around here are some rough spots. Not all but a lot. I don't need money that bad to allow me to play in a place I don't feel comfortable in. I go there to play when asked and when I'm available because I feel comfortable in this place and I'm well known in this place. Most people who come in there love what I do when playing there.

Don't go undercutting Zac

Looks like the 19th hole, looks like the kind of place wannabe mobsters would meet. Down here in the rough parts of town things look like that or worse- Yhank God for armor :D :D :D

Jacob .. I certainly don't envy the cr*p you see down your way.

Just because it's been open 24+ years doesn't mean its been owned or run by the same people for 24+ years.

Doesn't mean it hasn't either. Just presenting another side of the coin.

Trust me this place is a safe place. One big reason is that the owner is smart. She keeps different things going on during the week and some things are geared towards an older crowd. The big thing is that the DJ's who play there are not allowed to play today's hip hop and r & b all night long. That makes a big difference! My personal experience with places where the DJ is allowed to play today's hip hop and r & b all night long don't last around here.

What happens with places like that most of the time is this. They will attract an element that will want to hear that style of music all night long. The bar owner gets to make a whole lot of money in the beginning. It's safe at first. Eventually because of the crowd that comes in such a place the DJ will be forced to play the hardcore stuff after a while because the crowd coming there will get tired of hearing the clean versions of a song. Which leads to a rough crowd coming to the place drinking. Some owners don't see the impending doom that is to come. All they see is they are making a ton of money. What happens next is the thug jokers are allowed to come in because all the owner cares about is how much money they are making.

Then the next part is that a lot of that music is music that you just listen to. No dancing or at least any real dancing. Then the thugs will start throwing up gang signs which will lead to a fight breaking out. Eventually leading to someone getting stabbed or shot. If not inside the place outside of the place.

In this bar no DJ is allowed to play that style of music all night long. So the DJ who plays that style of music on Saturdays is only allowed to play that for a certain amount of time and then he must change up the music. That mixes up the crowd that comes there and thus keeping this bar a safe place to come to.
