no reason for the iphone to not be good... just look up some tutorials on youtube. They've come very far in their capabilities. If you prefer something with even more control, any dslr where you can adjust the shutter speed to 1/160 or faster will be fine. DSLR's are very much about the lens not just the body.

You have to increase the shutter speed when take action photos, how good the photos come out depends on how new the iPhone is. My family has 12s and 14s. All of their photos come out great all the time. I have a 10, my photos come out like crap. I’ve had long discussions with Apple reps. They say you can take phenomenal photos with a iPhone 12, 13, 14 or 15. And if you want additional features they all have a Pro versions.

thats odd, as you really should get better quality action shots with that model than what you posted. This tip is probably obvious, but make sure you touch the subject you want to be in focus before you capture the shot. It auto adjusts a lot of settings when doing this, especially if it senses some motion.

If this doesn't get the results you want (depends on the speed of the movement honestly), the best way to go is to get the Camera+ 2 app. The downside of the built in iphone camera appis that it has limited manual controls and no shutter speed control... which is the most essential aspect for action shots. This app is about $7.99 and allows you to control your iphone camera as if it was a dslr camera with all the same adjustable items you would expect such as shutter speed, aperture, and iso. This should get you the results you want as long as you use this as your camera app instead of the built in camera app and can save you from having to spend hundreds on an actual dslr for results that won't be much more different. For action shots you'll likely want to set the shutter to 1/160 or higher... preferable 1/200 if the lighting is adequate.

If you don't want to go the route of a new app... the best way is to go burst mode, which is apples built in features made exactly for this type of scenario.

That 14 will give you excellent quality shots. By chance, are you zooming way in? I'd recommend widening the shot then crop it. You'll have to go to a full frame and expensive lenses, plus there's a fairly steep learning curve with DSLRs (shooting in manual mode). That iphone will give just as good (if not better) quality than most DSLRs, especially crop sensors.

No offense Mix but I am not interested in your opinion
You're the one asking for our suggestions. What's wrong with what I asked you? I didn't give any opinion. What do you plan on using to do the job? Will this be something you can use again if need be or is this just a time event for you?

This thread has become a little blury. 😃 All thoughts are from behind.

Let me suggest that you go to a camera store, tell them your issue and let them give you suggestions.

I simply don’t value your opinion on cameras, most of the photos you post make it clear your are no expert on the subject

I never said I was. I said go to someone that knows their stuff. Again I never suggested what camera you should get. I don't know what you should get for the job you're doing.
