A DJ is Required???

Active DJ
I just got a booking from a client this week for Sunday, a College Graduation party at a Knights of Columbus. They weren't going to have anything, but then the venue told her they are requiring a DJ or some sort of entertainment due to the age of the guests.
First time I've heard of a venue requiring someone be hired. This was supposed to be my first weekend off since March (I've been away on much needed vacation since Sunday and will be back tomorrow), but I guess I'll be DJing Sunday afternoon.

That sounds very odd, especially the reason given...due to the age of the guests? What's that go to do with it??

My guess is that your client heard it wrong.

On a side note, Knights of Columbus' are usually dumps. The ones I've worked in had only floresent lighting. Either on or off - no dimmers and all hard surfaces. Yuck.

because it is a college grad and they didn't just want a group of recent grads standing around drinking with nothing else to do.

Aaahhh...now I get it. Wes, you're right about most KOC halls, although the one right near me is only 10 years old and is almost up to fire hall standards.:)

Hopefully, you were not hired as a babysitter.
