It's not often.. but I have steered brides away from terrible venues in the past. Places that have really difficult management, or some other hidden "gotcha." I'll also tell them where they can have a similar experience without the unpleasant experience.
I'm certainly not a big golden goose of venue referrals... but anyone in the business can make an impact.
