Upgrading my lighting inventory

I did my first mini-A/B test this morning. Wow is all I can think to say. No pics yet (sorry) but in short I'm guessing that these 9X18 fixtures are roughly 3X as strong as my Chauvet slimpar56s. I plan to do some more testing this weekend and play around with the wireless. Still not sure how I'm going to incorporate it all but on brightness, this is a huge improvement.

First A/B comparison. This is a Chauvet slimparez 56 and a Smart2 9X18. Obviously the chauvet is on top. This is against a wood door in my garage, at about 6 feet.

By the way, if you just use RGB the colors are matching up pretty good. I'm thinking I should be able to mix&match fixtures, at least until I can get enough 9X18s to do an entire event. If I can get $45-$50 per can I may start selling off batches of my slimpars and buying the stronger lights.

These are the 6x18. A little beamy. Yes, that's Elvis. Casino themed 75th birthday party. They spent more on this than half my weddings. Lol. 20180217_175639.jpg 20180217_171953.jpg 20180217_172000.jpg

I'm probably going to put the first batch of Slimpars up for sale this week and am hoping to be able to buy a batch of 9X18s in the new few weeks. The first 2 I bought were white. I like them. My son was just commenting that he thought black was a better fixture color. Which color would you guys go for? Mostly weddings and seems that most venues have white molding.

I have all white if that means anything. They blend better with the white walls of venues around here typically

I would go white only if you are planning on using them for nothing but uplighting.
If you think you might also mount them on a light tree or truss at some point to be used as a wash, then go with the black.

.. or get 40 of each and cover all bases.

I just did an order of the 9x18 from the same seller that I got the 6x18s from. I'll do a comparison next week.

Here's another fixture comparison shot that I did yesterday at a venue open house. This is a white, drywall wall, 9 ft. The 9x18 fixture is in the center and is flanked by chauvet slimparez 56 fixtures. Obviously the 9x18 is a lot brighter but something that's bugging me, which you can't see in the picture, is that there's a very definite halo effect on the 9X18 fixture. While you can't really see it in the photo, the lower-right part of the beam had a definite blue tinge along the edge. I thought these all-in-one LEDs did away with the halo effect. Does anybody have any thoughts about it?

I personally have no issues going through a 6-7hr event with them on. I never tried to run them from a full charge to dead so i can't give you the total run time. I do know that they were rated for around 7 or 8hrs on the specs with all leds on. Keep in mind I have rgbw... not rgbawuv which is 6 leds instead of 4 that I have.

may lower quality optics causing the issue

Mine say that as well, but I had them full color a couple weeks ago and they were at 50% after 4 hours. I have not tried to do a test to see how long they will run yet.

or the realization that a $150 version of a $450 fixture comes with limitations ...

For $150, it's not a problem. It just surprised me that a single LED, which produces all variations of color, would have this kind of issue at all. Incidentally, the quote I have from Alibaba is $109 each on a batch of 10. Air shipping is $388. I've got to confirm that they're including the charging case and then I'm likely placing an order for the first batch. I'm probably going to start putting my Slimpars up for sale. If I can get $50/each, then I'm swapping 20 old for 10 new (well, kinda).
