Truss length

If you use truss for totems, what length do you like?

I see most manufactures make them is 6.56, and 8.20 but I did find that Pro X make one that is 7.15, which will fit in my van.

I pan to use these both as totems and horizontal on my crank up stands.

I use 6.5 and 7... and also have 1.5 extensions for really high cieling venues.

6.5 is much easier to place a moving head on from a standing position...any higher and your bringing a ladder

Do you use Aluminum or steel base plates?

Do you always put the uplight in front of the truss? ( I thought most put the light on the inside of the truss)

I have both aluminum and steel. I prefer the ones that have handled though, which I believe are aluminum, I think the color spread is cleaner when the uplights are in front. I hate the shadow of the trusses when u place the uplight inside,
