OLD music that is working the dance floor for me...

I have been remiss in posting a gig video. I worked Noche Latina at OpenMikes this past Saturday, a Nightclub/coffee bistro in Melbourne Fl.
Someone did a video which was posted to Facebook -

The song is Latinos by Proyecto Uno from 1996! Real music!!
This gig is a dream. I just have to bring my laptop/controller, which plugs into two direct boxes on the floor under the table - the speakers/amps/lighting are on site...and yes, that's me with the water bottle, cueing up the next song.

Bruno Mars - Finesse came out in 2017, LOL. ...And that was only about a 5 on the 1 to 10 scale in dance floor popularity ...2018 is officially the worst year in Music. Not a single Good Song.

The Middle is the only song that came out in 2018 I like, but it's not a huge dance floor filler. Maybe just a bit less popularity than Finesse would create.

one kiss - calvin harris and dua lipa... the hottest track out right now in the nj/nyc area.

I guess I see things diffferently... while the music isn't necessarily my preferred style... there have been a good number of great tracks that I've been incorporating in my sets that are current. I also have a crowd that allows me to go beyond just what you hear on the radio. Yes... much of it is hip hop... but I get a decent amount of couple that incorporate some house music in there as well. There's also a lot of remixes out there that allows you to incorporate songs, that normally wouldn't go over as well, but are still popular. An example is alphalove's remix of the middle... goes over extremely well every time.

Guess we're all waiting (impatiently) for the next Uptown Funk.
(a song that you KNOW is gonna do great, the first time you hear it)
I'm getting brides asking for no Bruno at weddings pretty often now. It seems that DJs have beaten that one to a pulp. It may have to be put on the backburner for a while for me.

Sounds like some really, really smart & savy woman to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know most music is produced to a "formula" - but I really dislike it when it's so dam in your face obvious.

I think that's the reason that I don't play him alot. He's got good stuff but I think the radio stations kilt it.

When you have Bruno on one hand ... and the rest of the crap in the other .. tends to happen.
