I keep seeing this lighting controller out there. It looks like a cool interface... but when I read about it I can't tell if it needs other Martin software to operate.

Can this thing act as a standalone DMX controller, or do you need Martin software to run it?

Looks like they have others (like the M-Play), designed to work with either the M-PC software or one of their fancier M2PC boards (apparently the same sw inside the board). There is a quick overview here: Review: Martin M-Touch Lighting Console - Learn Stage Lighting .com that implies the software is key .. it also appears the SW is free .. Martin Professional: M-PC

Looks like the free M-PC SW will work with up to 4 Art-net Universes (no DMX), though the M-Touch or M-Play adds 1 DMX universe (512 ch) and you can buy a Martin dongle for around $395 which adds 2 more DMX universes if needed.

So if a simple DMX dongle is $300 .. this might be a very good buy for not a whole lot more ...
