New Venue ..

They're moving the DJ Expo again this year from the AC Convention Center to the Harrah's Resort in the Marina District. Puts it further away from the boardwalk and the restaurants, although the 3 hotels up in the marina area (Harrahs, Borgata, Golden Nugget) are very nice.

I would have preferred the older spot .. previously Trump Taj Mahal .. now a Hardrock Hotel .. but either there was a $$ issue or they aren't ready with the renovations.

Dates are August 13-16 .. I'll post again when I see reservations are open and also when I see discount codes.

I started a GO FUND ME page to collect money so Mix can go... So far it's up to $.02... donated by Proformance, I think.

Mix did make it last year .. late and at full price, but he was there ...
Give him a few bucks for parking if you run in to him there Steve ;)

I'm going to have to throw a convention here in Sydney so I can get to one...I'm booked on 11, 12, 16,17,18 of August

Hopefully they'll fix some of the issues they had last year. The noise in the exhibit hall was just out of control. I couldn't even talk to the reps in the booth without screaming. They need to separate it into a quiet area and a noisy area . The exception of meeting Steve & Cap for dinner and winning the photobooth it was the worst one for me and I've been to each one since the first one.
I like the old too but this new location has to be better than the convention center. Well, we will seen I usually make it at least one day. I am going to talk with my son & see how he feels about staying more than one day if our schedule allows it.

I miss the AC shows. They used to be great (when I was presenting! LOL) I used them as an excuse to see my parents who at the time were alive and well on the East Coast. But now I don't get out as much.
You're welcome to come and visit some of us .. we'll even have Mix play your Dad.

I plan to go this year, but it depends. ...My family is going on a vacation to Disney in May for 2 weeks. It's the big vacay we have been talking about for the last 3 years. I will be coming back broke...if I am recooperated financially by August I plan to go for over night, but that really depends on if I'm having a strong wedding season in June/July or not.

Just checking in...As of right now, July and August are DEAD as a door nail for gigs right now. This year is a cycle year for my area I think. Less gigs than normal for everyone. I have noticed many other DJ companies have downsized their DJ rosters due to the slow down as well. Unless things turn around, it is very likely I will be missing out on the DJ expo this year.

It is when the bookings are the lowest that attendance at the Expo becomes the most valuable. For us Ancient Order of Hibernating DJs , there is not a whole lot of new information to be had, BUT by attending the Expo, the infusion of confidence, the shot of energy, the renewed vitality, and the friendship of many good people revisited, is exactly what the doctor prescribes for booking anemia.

No excuses, Ricky. Get there.

If someone wants to go, they block that time off. If you really want to go you should. Some DJs say "oh I booked a gig",,, is your business so confined that missing one or even two gigs for the year will make or break you?

The knowledge from an expo is amazing. even us Ancient Order of Hibernating DJs learn something, a nugget or as Mast Cap says the infusion of confidence, the shot of energy, the renewed vitality, and the friendship is worth it.

I miss going to AC. I do MBLV usually. I missed this year and I really did miss it.

Registration is NOW open ... Registration Page - DJ EXPO

I registered for the exhibitions only (free until June 11th, though they did extend that last year). Not interested in the parties. When they list the sponsored workshops I'll decide if it's worth the $100 for those.

Harrahs Resort is $129 room rate (I think it's $119 if you are a Total Rewards member).

If you have any inkling to go, at least get the free exhibit past before June 11th.
