What software are you using to DJ with?

For gigs it's rekordbox but for around the house it's OTS and it's RAC

The difference between US and UK DJ's...

Hi folks, so i'm in the UK, been a DJ for 25+ years. I know there's a massive disparity between what many of you earn and what we earn over here for an average wedding. For example, if I did a straight pound-to-dollar conversion, I'm averaging around $500 for a straight wedding disco, no MC...

Has anyone heard of or used these?

In which case then i'd look at the Polar 10 or 12 which would be a better option for you. That said, I have a pair of the Bose L1 Pro 8's and they totally smash weddings up to 150 people in the venues I work in...can't really fault them.

Has anyone heard of or used these?

I visited the HK facility in Germany a few years ago having owned a lot of their products for many years. The Polar system is actually quite nice with a great sound at a decent price. I tested the Polar 10 at a gig with 100 people and it was fantastic, really nice warm sound.

    Websites

Good catch, I will find them and fix! I went with a white background purely because the majority of DJ sites I've seen tend to go with a black or dark background and I wanted mine to stand out and be full of bright, vibrant colors. I do have thousands of pictures, just getting the right ones...

Which DJ Facade Do you like more?

It's a shame you're not in the UK because there's a guy over here who makes amazing dj booths and facades, customised to your design. they will last not only your lifetime but also the lifetime of the DJ you sell it to when you retire. I'm assuming shipping to the US will cost a fortune however.

Bose L1 Model ii vs RCF Evox 8...which system can handle larger events effectively?

My Pro8's have tons of wobble in the array, really annoying but it's not terrible and you can't tell.

    Drinking the Bose kool-aid (again)

sadly I have no more $$$ for a pro16. The Pro8's afforded me the most flexibility with various setups. I do a lot of ceremony sound and also work in a lot of venues with sound limiters so the Pro8's work really well in all of these scenarios. I generally buy in pairs so had I gone down the...

    Drinking the Bose kool-aid (again)

+1 on that. I reviewed the Pro32 + Sub 2 for a magazine here in the UK and was blown away. I have the Pro8's now.. I used them at a gig some weeks ago alongside an FBT 118SA subwoofer and blew the marquee lid off! Thing is, the FBT is not particularly elegant to carry around, great for proms...

New to DJ forum, need help with speakers

Out of the list posted, the closest i've got to owning any of that is the FBT Promaxx 114a which is a superb speaker. Really compact too, same size cab as the 12" but with a 14" woofer. I had the active versions as well and for me they were a really nice speaker. Right now I'm using the Bose...

Thinking about one of these for the studio

I have one of these for internet radio projects, and some ceremony sound stuff and can't really fault it. Perfect for podcasting, broadcasting, live PA and more. The new software introduces MIDI as well which you can assign to the buttons so that can be useful. The Rodecaster can turn off...

What model is this Bose speaker setup?

I've got two of the newer ones, the L1 Pro8, astounding pieces of kit. Only using one in the attached picture as you can see. The one in the picture at the top is the L1 Compact. The main difference between that and the L1 Pro8 is that with the Pro8 you get a better mixer with a variety of...

Are DJ Facades still in style or on their way out?

I think there's still a place for them to be honest. Here's my current go-to rig... And for the people who are happy to pay much much more... Yeah ok so the second one takes 2hrs to put in but for the customer who wants the ultimate wow factor, it works really well.

MacBook Air M1 - who needs the "pro?"

I've always been a mac kinda guy, for nearly 20 years now and when DJ'ing, certainly in the last 10 or so years, the MacBook Pro was always my weapon of choice. My laptop bag was stolen out of my car in October last year and whilst I didn't bother replacing it straight away because here in the...

    Websites

Here in the UK we still can't get back to work, it's almost a year now so I've used this time to nail my website and I think i'm pretty much there. I've taken on a lot of advice i've picked up along the way from folk such as Alan Berg, heck I even paid him some $$$ for his website review...

What software are you using to DJ with?

I use rekordbox exclusively for live gigs, not that i've done one since March 2020. Radio-wise i'm an OtsAV user and have been since 1999, fantastic software still..

    Mega OtsAV sale!

To be fair, the software is actually "ok". I was an early adopter at the back end of the '90s, paying less than $50AU that has entitled me to free updates ever since. I actually stopped using it in 2011 when I started using DJ controllers with Serato. OtsAV still contains some features that...

MyDMX Go Problem .. and potential solution

Adding live chat to your website?

I've had a couple of live chat things on my site...neither of them were used really. I had tawk.to, can't remember what the other one was.

Do you think RCF will make a version of the evox with a bigger sub

Yep that's the EVOX 12...but sadly has lost the unique feature of the top array sliding into the sub...but then that would make it too heavy anyway. I'm happy with my 8...I don't need the 12.

    ADJ Inno Pocket Spot Question

Having owned these fixtures you can't do what the OP wants to do. When you set S2L mode via DMX they will operate independently and not in a master/slave style. You may want to look at ADJ MyDMX for example or even Avolites Titan One as a PC-based solution. My choice would be Avolites purely...

Bose AWM For Background Music & Ceremonies

Whilst I agree that the AWM is a fantastic machine that is more than capable of what he used it for...the L1 Compact is a far better piece of kit for the exact reasons that Scott put above.

Weddings Super Simple Company Display at Venue Open House

Never been one to offer "bribes" i.e. chocolates at a venue open day but maybe this weekend I will :) I do a lot of these much smaller open-day style events at venues here in the UK and they are perfect for chatting to existing clients and future ones also, much more laid back and I find it...
