The high school where I work has a Radio/TV class.
This past Monday, I was asked to give a presentation on my days in radio.
So I was going thru old photos to use...and found this little gem.
A little rig I built myself, complete with a wireless controller. (ADJ Co-Pilot)
It's easy (and fun) to...
I was working in radio, so I was already spinning in clubs and at appearances.
So, I understood music, and loved all types of music.
The one talent I did have was that I was not shy.
I loved being in front of a crowd....and still do.
I like the mounting bracket allows you to position it wherever you need it.
They're kinda like the Chauvet Core, in a different shaped, smaller fixture.
The price you paid isn't horrible, since the Core is about $600.
I use my lappy for EVERYTHING.
It's my home computer, my gig computer, and my source for email and internet.
Unlike many of you, at a gig, my laptop is NOT my main source for playing music.
I have the automatic updates turned off....
and it's a Windows 7, so it's not bogged down with extra crap...
For the record, I posted this to start the exact discussion we are having.
Personally, I would never use this as a sales tool.
If I cannot sell myself, I am not going to "guilt" anyone into signing with stuff like this.
We have a real positive vibe around here. DJs will gladly....
Fill in for an emergency
Refer a client for a date they are booked
Share tips and experiences
Not act like a d*ck when we're in the same room
I think a week is more than enough time to get better.
(or, at least well enough to do the gig)
But, if it was bad enough that I was not going to recover in time,
I would call a friend to cover it.
As someone who MADE commercials for a living for 40-years....
I think I can safely say THAT commercial is perfect.
It's fun, and makes a good point in a way we can relate to.
Bob nailed it.
Long gone are the days where DJs depended on the Top 40 to know what to play, because that is what clients were listening to.
At this point, corporate radio can't learn anything.
They've already convinced themselves that the PRODUCT doesn't matter.
(and they may be right)
I still use my Windows 7 laptop.
I love how it doesn't try to "out-think"me.....like Win 10 did/does.
The less unnecessary crap on it, the better.
When the radio station went totally digital (MANY years ago)
the software ran on Windows 3.1.
It was the simplest version of an operating system...
Don't forget John (JT) Tuck.
NONE of us would (probably) be here if it weren't for him.
Should we include DJ's whose CAREERS are "no longer with us"???
(if so, sign me up)
