    Disturbing the peace BS

But as for weight.... that is the ONE piece of good news I got from my recent physical. I lost another 10 pounds! I was 210 about a year ago... clocked in at 196 on September 4th... and I am now at 186! (my H.S. weight was 150....so not bad for 40 years)

    Disturbing the peace BS

I have never been "contacted" about loud music outside... although I have performed at many outdoor events. We have a lot of music festivals in our area... and most are to benefit the township where the event is held... so the cops aren't gonna shut down something that is helping their own...

A quick promo vid for social media

I agree with Rick. Mainly because that shot of you at the very end kinda looks like you were caught off guard. I agree with Taso about being positive. In advertising, that is one of the first things you learn. And the party shots are really good, so start off with something BIG so you get their...

    Patience Is A Virtue

Since I already have the Obey 40, and I know it will do what I want it to do... I can be patient and deal with it until they get over their growing pains and address some of the quirks. Besides, I didn't have enough gigs this year to warrant buying MyDMXGo. But I really am dying to use one...

Adding Moving Heads - Let's see your pictures!

Just set up my new movers for this weekend's gig. I eliminated some lights, and made some new hardware to make a more compact show. Pardon the surroundings.... it's the new "dirt cheap" venue in town. (my garage)

    Patience Is A Virtue

I was all gung ho about LightRider and MyDMXGo not so long ago. I had just bought a pair of Lixada mini beam movers, and wanted to use my tablet to control them. But my tablet never recognized my Sushi...so I thought about getting MyDMXGo, but didn't have the money. Sine then I have seen a lot...

Finally looking to spend the money to get the speakers wrapped.

If you weren't gonna read ANY of the responses.... WHY DID YOU POST IT IN THE FIRST PLACE????

Got a date to use the handball court again.

I wouldn't generalize it as "the Northeast"... I've lived just over the NJ border in Pennsylvania all of my life... I've been involved in the DJ and outdoor festival scene since I was a teen... and I haven't seen one "gathering of DJ's" as Mix describes.

Finally looking to spend the money to get the speakers wrapped.

I used to use JBL TR-125's which also have the textured surface. I removed the grill and hardware, taped off the cones, and used a can of $10 truck bed liner from Home Depot to cover each speaker. Duratex is probably a tougher product, but you can buy it in a gallon bucket for about $40...

Finally looking to spend the money to get the speakers wrapped.

If they are YOUR speakers, and it's YOUR money fixing them... why is your partner even involved?

    Ceremony set up....back or front?

I now do them from the back. In addition to the already-mentioned reasons... I find it easier to be able to SEE the participants, so I can coordinate when to start the songs. Also, from the back... you have a better grip on the volume level.

    New light stand

You could also lightly scratch a line on it. It wouldn't rub off. Otherwise, I used those paint pens and they work well.

Maid of Honor wears a Giant T Rex Costume at wedding

The really weird part is..... no one seems to be amused, or even surprised...with her wearing the costume.

So you hate the scratching and "fapping"?

WOW! There's a blast from the past! Those were the first professional players we used at the radio station. Funny thing is...they were so expensive at the time (new technology + pro equipment) that we could not afford to buy them ourselves. We had a local tech store order two and we paid for...

So you hate the scratching and "fapping"?

But if you only cook for vegans, or people who don't want Asian food... many of the skills you have will go un-used. Many of us have learned the skill, but just don't have the need for it. No one is trying to defend their denial by saying their clients don't want it. No one is saying that's...

USB extender cables - how far?

We just finished the Allentown Fair... yesterday.... and they feature a cooking stage. We used one overhead camera that focused on the cooktop. (we used a joystick and zoom)

So you hate the scratching and "fapping"?

I don't think anyone here feels that mixing is not profitable or not relevant. Some of us just feel that it is not a critical part of the kind of gigs we do. Just as being a good public speaker, is not critical to a DJ who beatmixes at a club.

USB extender cables - how far?

Anytime we've had long distance video runs, we've used HDMI. Even so, a signal amplifier was needed to boost the signal. (which rarely worked) Now, we hire a video guy, and he uses HDMI to Cat5 converters... which can be run over a LOOOOOOONG distance without any issues.

    Weddings Most Hated Requested Songs

I never had platform shoes (although I coulda used them) I did have a leisure suit (dark green, if it matters) I went with a silk shirt, myself (only owned ONE, though) and the hair.....well...I'll resist the urge to give you pay-backs for the umpteen kilt jokes.

The latest thing on Saturday's event 8-31-19

THIS... AND THIS.... Since it is a charity, and not about how much you're getting paid... the benefits of doing this gig are: 1- Free promotion. A lot of people get to see you work, and see what you have to offer as a DJ. 2- A good first impression. They will think you are a kind and...
