USB extender cables - how far?

I would check it out and make sure the "USB Extender" works OK. This is dead lifted right from it's brochure - "Devices with precise timing requirements (such as USB cameras) not recommended"

What speakers do you like and why?

I know it was a dig. There is a difference between "setup randomly" close coupled and stacked on top of each other (as per his picture), and "widely spaced".

What speakers do you like and why?

I can believe it. Anybody remember the "Sweet 16" DIY loudspeaker published in Popular Electronics 1961? Scroll a bit down - http://www.roger-russell.com/columns/columns.htm#sweet A further improvement was to not use 16 identical drivers, but a "mix and match" approach of drivers from different...

What speakers do you like and why?

Because we live in it, it is very easy to forget that "air" has a significant amount of mass. Big boy stuff, like the Yorkville Unity, and even bigger boy stuff, like Funktion One, take advantage of this fact due to their shear size, which yields much better acoustic coupling. It is easy to...

Brought it up on High Sierra

    Macbook Pro 2012 13"

Yes, but I can fully understand Serato's position. While it would be easy for them to do, they already have their hands full supporting two operating systems.

    Macbook Pro 2012 13"

Thanks! So far, vs Windows 7, I'm not impressed. My son says the Serato waveforms will be much "Smoother" on the Mac. We shall see. I'm in the process of doing a full reset before I install anything. I'm still up on Long Island at my son's house. He has more laptops, both Mac and Windows...

    Macbook Pro 2012 13"

I just "inherited" a broken 2012 13" Macbook Pro from my DJ son. Constant I/O errors, CPU running over 100%. Seems the thin insulation on the flat cable from the motherboard to the SSD had worn through, shorting to the aluminum case - apparently a common problem - so those of you who have them...

    Hurricane Dorian

This storm has been a real stinker. East coast of Florida dodged a 105mm cannon, while the Bahamas got destroyed. Still enough wind to cancel many airline flights, like mine out of West Palm. Finally got up to Long Island - the wife and I have been baby sitting two Grandchildren, while my son...

USB extender cables - how far?

I think only zoom, focus and shutter - no X or Y axis. Here you go - Radar baby!! View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV-xvxP3DHA https://shop.movensee.com/en/

USB extender cables - how far?

I know some Karaoke DJ's who use wireless HDMI, so people don't trip on the cable. It seems to work very well, like these things -...

Building A Podium Style DJ System

Ahh! I obviously missed where you're switching from two to one monitor, but you do realize that monitors go bad, and this somewhat defeats the ubr redundancy you prefer! :)

Building A Podium Style DJ System

I know we all have a lot of fun kidding you about your daily rebuilds, but on a serious note - a 29" monitor to display Traktor? I know the 29" is a diagonal, but IMHO that is still huge - 12" more than my 17" laptop, which is probably bigger than the 15" most DJ's run! I would think Traktor's...

Wireless mouse without a sleep mode

Just turned it on now. I didn't know that was an option. Thank You! Wow, I'm learning a lot about Mice today!! Quiet evening home tonight. Tired from putting up shutters on my homes windows, and helping others. Latest reports show Florida dodging a bullet.

Wireless mouse without a sleep mode

I had not considered a Bluetooth mouse - freeing up a USB port is good, plus my laptops are Bluetooth ready. However, I don't like any latency or lag due to "sleep". I don't really see the mouse pointer until it starts to move - most of us don't - that's why we do that idiot hand wiggle movement...

Wireless mouse without a sleep mode

Already had done that. My two identical Samsung R780 laptops that I use for gigs have both been optimized to death - nothing turns off when they are plugged into AC. It looks like the M185 and the M325 are Logitech's newer designs - they are both similar except for the mouse wheel. Switching...

Wireless mouse without a sleep mode

One of my non-gig laptops had a M185 on it, which I've swapped. It is much better than the comatose M305! Remember, when I DJ, I go for long periods without using my mouse. I actually use my controller, I don't flirt with the girls, and I don't day-dream about rebuilding my rebuilt system...

Wireless mouse without a sleep mode

Thanks guys, I'll try that. My (older) M305 has a very noticeable delay after it's been sitting for a while. Still usable, but an irritation.

Wireless mouse without a sleep mode

Anybody make a wireless mouse without the battery saving sleep mode? This is not a Device Manager setting, USB port going to sleep, etc. It's the mouse itself, a Logitech.

Anyone familiar with Peavey IPR2 3000 amps and troubleshooting them

Peavey is usually pretty good with sharing schematics if you ask them, at least they used to be. I took a quick look around the internet (like you've probably already done), and found nothing. However, of note is that it looks like there is no provision for Bridging. For a Class D amp, this...

    Ishkur's Guide to Music

A lot of you so-called DJ's are having a problem organizing your music. Here's a small interactive flow chart that might help. Knowing this group, I'm sure there'll be a lot a strained necks looking for Booty Rap - it's right there under Dirty South Rap Crunk ! http://music.ishkur.com/

Serato users - prepare to open your wallet!

My second favorite software! Just remember, it does not have a dedicated Prelisten/Preview function like most other DJ software. If you are used to software that has it, you'll probably miss it

41100 vs 48000 bit rate - NOT from a sound perspective

Everything I do is done live in DJ software. While they all have individual quirks I belly-ache about, I consider Serato, Cross DJ, Traktor, VDJ, Mixxx, etc., running on a laptop, to be the greatest thing since sliced bread - and I could easily live with any of them. ...but I do have...

41100 vs 48000 bit rate - NOT from a sound perspective

On a Windows 7 through 10 system, from a cpu usage perspective, which is better? The majority of my DJ library was ripped from 41100 CD's @41100, but I've heard that Windows Audio runs at 48000 internally, so that can be worse because of all the converting. An additional complication is I...
