I was told this will be the last year for the Lincoln Park Festival.

A DJ friend of mine told me this is the last year for the Lincoln Park Festival which is next weekend. 14th and final one. That's sad to me because I love being in that park the last Saturday in July listening to the DJs play great house music and I'm not talking about the same old stuff I've...

I'm a softy as well and that gets me in trouble sometimes.

    Bookings! Bookings! Bookings!

You missed it. You had to do more than just offer it $50 discount. I get that offering the discount helps with people contacting but that doesn't mean they will book you because of the $50 discount. You still have to sell yourself. So kudos on selling yourself.

Rick you said smart man. Nice idea but I don't see bookings jumping threw the roof because of this. I don't see people rushing to book him because he's saving them $50 by booking with him. I don't know what your rates are but I doubt a $50 coupon has you getting a rush of bookings in 24...

First time for everything, never thought static was a really serious issue...

There were different versions of the SRM 450's. One version had issues with the amps over heating. I used to work in a club that my friend who was one of the managers had a pair. They used to get over heated and shut off repeatedly. They made a different version correcting that issue.

What should be installed into a venues system is a limiter. That way a DJ can't turn the system up but so far so the system doesn't get damaged by a DJ wanting to go crazy with the system thinking it's got to be extra loud to impress the people at the event. Also so they can't mess with the...

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Just like I couldn't play today's Hip Hop an entire event.

She was supposed to be upset. They paid their money to have an event there and then the DJ as well to find out that. Not to mention their equipment messed up during the event. I would be pissed off too. We're supposed to be getting paid to do what we do which should be us using our own...

First time for everything, never thought static was a really serious issue...

What sucks is when you're forced to use the venues system and it's a bunch of crap that you know will make you look bad to the client and their guests.

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Played James Brown, Temptations, stuff like that. I was told to play house music which is what I did. Later on for the dance I played house music and the crowd ate it up. No taking pictures at these events for the fellowship. So I don't have a picture of the setup.

I wasn't asking to cause a fight here. I asked because I don't care to use a venues system in such a place. Normally the system is a cheap piece of junk. A lot of these places won't spend some really good money to get a really great quality system put in by a professional. They will buy some...

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Wrong. The chairperson at the event had me to change the style of music I was playing. I was doing things the way I had done it in the past for other activities committees. That's not what he wanted. In the beginning I played music till the speaker showed up and time for them to speak...

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Not at all. The event started at 6 and there was no speakers for the speaker portion. So I was playing music till the speakers showed up and it was time for them to speak. I was playing music and the chairperson wanted a different kind of music than what I was playing at the time. So I did...

Is it true that the Yorkville 801p subs have been discontinued?

I know that sub can sound very harsh if not set properly. Some will look for super heavy bass when it's not needed. Depending on the type of event and gear used the sub should compliment the tops and not over shadow them.

Is it true that the Yorkville 801p subs have been discontinued?

The 801p subs are great to me. The issue is watching out to not turn the volume up too much creating a harsh sound. There is punch and then there's overkill.

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

No things changed due to the speaker portion started very late. So that threw things off. It caught me and others off guard.

I was told the timeline and things changed because the speaker portion got started late.

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Normally there's more than 1 speaker. The speaker didn't speak till around 7:15 or so. The event started at 6. So I was playing music to fill the time until the speaker portion started. I didn't want to play a bunch of stuff I was going to play later for the dance.

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Well at first I was playing older classic Soul and the chairperson stopped me from playing that. I did that before the speaker portion was to be done. So if I get a chance to do another event for the committee I know to put it down right away. Don't wait for the dance to start.

Is it true that the Yorkville 801p subs have been discontinued?

I was told that the Yorkville 801p subs have been discontinued. Is this true? It it's true that's a shame. If it is true does anyone know what they replaced it with if they did?

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

Those speakers are mine. Just deciding what to bring. Neither one of us like using those Yorkville subs because of the weight issue. Yet they are a great pair of subs. It's not too bad when the load in is easy. That's not the case for this venue. You have to get your gear down stairs and...

I got a text message this morning that did my spirit good.

I did the event this past Saturday and got a text message from the chairperson this morning. He said the committee liked the music I played. That made me feel good. I always worry about what people think of the job I did at an event. That's my perfectionism getting in the way. So it looks...

You also mentioned you had to use the venues system. I was wondering why is that? I think a member here said they weren't allowed to bring in their own gear and was forced to use the venues system.
