    New mixer from Phenyx Pro

I think it was the PTU-7000 mic set... Works very nice for what we need it for...mostly meetings in a large room.

    New mixer from Phenyx Pro

I picked up a four-mic wireless Phenyx Pro setup last winter for our rec hall where I live. They work nice!

    Speaker Question

My Alto's don't have Bluetooth, although that was my first thought when I heard that sound.

    The Official Introductions Thread

I'm sure I posted here about 10 years ago in this same topic thread...but I'll do it again! I'm one of the pioneers of the mobile DJ industry...starting in 1980 with vinyl records (3000+ albums and over 3000 45 rpm records) in Jackson, Michigan... In all those years I've DJ'ed over 3500...

    Speaker Question

Ironically, I bought a pair of Monster X6 speakers at Sam's Club a couple of years ago... I suppose many here would look down on them as 'cheap' speakers... But you know what? They sound awesome...they look great...and didn't break the bank for me. I'm looking to by a pair of the new version...

    Speaker Question

Oh...I don't know about that... I've always had good luck with mine (Alto's) up until recently...I'm now having trouble with one after 15 years of pushing them to their limits! They've always sounded bigger than they are...lots of bass...I just hope I can find someone to fix it. Not a whole...

Selling my gear looking for suggestions

When I left Denver 8 1/2 years ago I gave away what I could (tried to sell, but didn't have much luck) and I kept the core of my equipment except for the passive speakers. Down here in Yuma, AZ I put my amps, racks, sound processors and other stuff on Marketplace and Craig's List...sold a...

WHat camera do you use and why?

I recently got a new phone...a Motorola Edge 2025 with 256 GB internal memory and a 50 megapixel camera with four built-in lenses. I am amazed at how good the image quality is from this camera phone, but still carry two Olympus Mirrorless cameras with me almost everywhere I go for when I want...

    Hard to retire

Actually, when people look at that rack full of equipment, they are usually at awe of it as most wouldn't have a clue what to do with it.

    Speaker Question

I just started having trouble with one of my Alto speakers... When turned on, if makes a 'FFttttttt FFtttttt' sound continuously (if that makes any sense). I plugged it in to a power conditioner, and it still does it! I don't know if it's worth fixing, or just buying another one for the cost...

It was 20 years ago today...

I know I was one of the early ones here... I was a big DJ CHAT'er...and there were a couple of other chat boards that went away... I stumbled across the DJ Chat Facebook page a few years back...don't know if it is still up...but it was not the same as a chat board.

    Hard to retire

I am set up to DJ with the computer...but I just don't like it. Seems that all I do is stand around and click the mouse every once in a while. With the CD's...I still have to work...remember which CD a song is on...find it...cue it up...then seamlessly play it without missing a beat...

    Hard to retire

I started out DJing in Michigan in 1980...then moved to the Denver, Colorado area and picked right up where I left off! I cut way back on DJing after I had a stroke in 2010, but still did a few gigs here and there. Then life changed for me...divorce...sold the house...hit the road with my four...

    Speaker Question

I bought a pair of 8" Altos about 15 years ago...love them. I've been amazed at the sound I get out of them.

    Hiding your phone number

Even though I left Denver, Colorado eight years ago, I still have and use my Comcast email account as I've had it for over 20 years and have so many things tied to it. Comcast is now switching their email service over to AOL. I've been putting off doing the move as I'm not sure what will...

Can't say I ever had this happen

Not really...but OK. I think you missed my point altogether. And this happened way back in the stone age of DJ'ing...the 1980's, probably long before you got into the DJ thing.

    Hiding your phone number

Wow...the DJ business seems to have changed...for the worst! I still prefer to meet with my clients and set up what they want and what I will give them. Old School lives on... Been in this business since 1980...who knew that we should get rid of basic business models.

Can't say I ever had this happen

I was the DJ t I was the DJ that got sued for one song...as it turned out, she was a law student and was practicing on me. Also, deposits are refundable...reservation fees are not! As for CD's...I carry over 1000 of them to my gigs...last year I purchased several plastic totes with...

Can't say I ever had this happen

I guess you missed my point. I said I didn't like the computer/laptop experience and preferred that actual working/CD DJing experience. The computer just doesn't do it for me... Carrying 1000+ CD's does do it for me!

WHat camera do you use and why?

As many know, I was a photojournalist is the film days, and my cameras of choice (which I still have many, but haven't used in years), were Canon F1's and A1's... By the by...I do have a Canon T3i and love it...but haven't had it out of the camera bag in about 5 years. I was a master...

Can't say I ever had this happen

Ironically, back in the mid 80's I did a wedding reception for a couple...and three years later they both contacted me and hired me for their divorce party! They both told me they loved each other...but couldn't stand to live with each other. One of the best gigs I've ever done! It was a blast!

Can't say I ever had this happen

Oh man...I've got several stories about this over the years...but one sticks out immensely! This goes all the way back to 1988... I had a bride contact me one week before her wedding reception crying because her DJ cancelled on her... She was crying on the phone, and came in to my office with...

The last time you were requested to play alternate media

By the by...I recently purchased a brand new Gemini dual CD deck as one of my American DJ units took a dump on me (25-30 years old+, so I guess it was time), so I figured it was probably a good thing as they are hard to find nowadayz... I think I probably got the last brand new in the box unit...

The last time you were requested to play alternate media

I always (and still) kept (keep) my CD's in the original jewel cases... I am also thinking that I may use my weekends during the summer heat (here in Yuma, AZ temps are typically in the 120+ degrees hot) to maybe record all of my cassette singles into MP3 files so I can use them without my...

The last time you were requested to play alternate media

I still prefer to use CD's when I DJ... I know it is more work than is 'needed'... I have most of my CD's in the computer, but I really didn't enjoy the computer DJing experience. I recently dug out some of my old cassette singles and have enjoyed listening to them again.
