    Chauvet Gig Bar 3 ILS

These are all opinions of DJ's... I don't think clients see it that way. .With the exception of big shows, like Taso's, I think most clients don't pay much attention to the lights you use.

Has anybody here heard of a site called Fash?

I think you just answered your own question.

Speaker/Light stand Scrims. Is it still a thing in 2026?

Ditto. Never liked the look. If you want to appear classy... it's what you do and how you act, NOT how you dress up your speakers.

    Is This Legal?

Figured. But I've seen so many sketchy sites advertised.

ARE JBL Speakers the standard for A/V companies to use?

Our production company uses EV and JBL.The owner is a dealer for both brands. In the end, it comes down to personal choice.

Chauvet Flex Stand ILS. Worth buying as a DJ, or gimick and waste of money?

I do have a similar stand with a base plate, and I love it very much. But in the end, it's just a stand. It has a very simple job.

Local 60th Birthday Party Vs 75 minute drive to Upscale Venue Party Difference in your quote

I didn't say that I wouldn't do the downtown gig "at any price". I said I would PREFER the backyard gig.

Local 60th Birthday Party Vs 75 minute drive to Upscale Venue Party Difference in your quote

You asked what I would quote for each. I was pricing it as two separated inquiries, NOT as two gigs competing against each other. But I would still choose the backyard gig, even if the difference was only $100. It's an age thing, not a money thing.

Weddings Juneteenth Celebrations - Song Suggestions

I agree that your choices are mostly appropriate for the event. However, half of them seem to be angry or negative in content. Personally, I would stick to upbeat positive songs. For what it's worth, I used to play music on floats at the New York City Veterans Day parade. Keep in mind that...

Local 60th Birthday Party Vs 75 minute drive to Upscale Venue Party Difference in your quote

I would probably charge more for the downtown party because of paid parking a longer drive. $500 for the backyard bash. $600 for the downtown party. In my age, I would rather do the backyard party.

    Interesting trend in my area

Barn weddings are still very popular around here. Problem is...what they have in rustic beauty, they lack in proper power and amenities. The ones that are properly equipped have been totally renovated, and usually the lag a little bit of the country charm.

I almost forgot it was a gig

Even better when it's a family event, and you feel like you were adopted.

If you leave the mouse pointer hovering over something that is clickable, the computer will automatically select it as if you clicked on it.

Honestly, what I hate the most about Windows 10 and 11 is the auto select feature when you hover too long. .And even worse, you can't turn it off. Hate to think of what would happen in the middle of a gig if it decided to "select" something.

I have been using my 17" Asus for years. It's Windows 7, which is horribly outdated, but suits me much better that newer versions. It's getting old, the screen flickers if not adjusted correctly, and I'm starting to get messages about my operating system being outdated for certain programs and...

    Hiding your phone number

Working in advertising all those years, I was delighted when the internet took hold. For years, clients always believed we had to repeat their phone number for people to remember it. (unless it was like 1-800-GOT JUNK) But many wanted the phone number mentioned 3 times. Which doesn't leave room...

Technology is changing the entertainment industry... again

I agree. It's about the job you do and the memories you make. In 40 years, not one client has EVER asked me what type of gear I use. (or decided to hire, or not hire me because of it)

    Moving light falls on concertgoer

One of my first gigs was NYE at a local B'nai B'brith. Since I was new, I was using gear from the multi op. We had the big Ultimate stands with three pars and a controller on it. One slipped off the stage and crashed onto the dance floor. Fortunately, I wasn't that good, so no one was ON the...

Can't say I ever had this happen

Honestly, I've never had a bride attack me. Or want to. I've had issues that really ruined the moment..... but it was usually a technical issue of some sort. One of the benefits of being a little OCD.
