Yes many of us do that with every client regardless of the gig, Taso has a great business model, there are many others that are as successful, that do many of the same things, Most DJ ‘s who have been in business know what to do, not all of them have the drive to do it properly

HK Audio Polar 12 vs Yamaha DXL1k

I received both systems earlier this week, I was impressed with both but the Yamaha sounded slightly better and is definitely built more robustly, they are roughly the same price point, The HD does have a built in mixer while the Yamaha doesn’t, if that had been important to me I would have...

You weren’t necessarily being harsh just very adamant that your way was the right way, anything other than that was wrong, or at least that’s how I perceived it

A very proformance style response, not everyone has the same type of clients or business practices that you do. I’m a bit surprised by your unusually staunch responses on this post

You are completely clueless, almost every time you say something it’s obvious you just don’t get it. It so frustrating to watch you struggle to grasp simple marketing concepts

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

I’m exactly the same, I had a wedding this summer where I had 10 couples there that I had DJed their wedding, this was a 3rd generation wedding for me as I had done the brides mothers wedding as well as her grandmothers wedding,

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

It’s not straight out asking for referrals, it’s a subtle mention in casual conversation.

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

They could be great DJ’s but horrible at asking for referrals, other than asking for referrals from my clients I send anniversary card every year for the first 5 years reminding them if they know of anyone getting married I’d really appreciate them mentioning my name. I also will send an Amazon...

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

I don’t have a website never have, never needed one. Since about 1990 I’ve been 100% referral based I had e few newspaper ads back in the day and a yellow page listing. If you you do good work and spend a little time networking your current customers, the phone will ring

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

There’s a huge difference between a guaranteed weekly gig and a one off gig I spent many years play weekly gigs Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights for around $200-$250 a night. 47000 a year vs $200-300 on a Saturday night is not a real comparison

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

price was never mentioned all that was said was that they weren’t interested in paying $795. To many including yourself that’s a top paying gig, many guys out there getting paid under $200 a night to DJ / karaoke at a bar for 4-5 hours. I’m sure the would jump at the chance to make as much or...

Just curious if you would quote on this event request or pass on it entirely?

I don’t think you charge enough for anything even though we quoted the same rate for this job, the reality is if I lived where you do with your cost of living $795 isn’t enough, in Rural Wisconsin I’m at $1795 for a wedding, up to 5 hours of time, add $495 for ceremony coverage plus more if not...

    This is a weird business

That’s kinda of what I was thinking, I am trying to wind down but I still get dozens of referrals every year. My strategy is to retire by pricing myself out of work, either it will work or i will reach yet another level of society where price is never an objection, and it will make it more worth...

    This is a weird business

It’s a bar no cost to get in. It’s extremely rare to have a cover charge in Rural Wisconsin, I’ve played there the 7 years for New Years Eve
