    Mashup Ideas

I have the YourRemix version of it. I often play it into something at a similar speed like Don't Stop Til You Get Enough, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Uptown Funk, Just Dance, Apache... something in that space. But I don't have those pre-made, are you looking for a pre-made blend?

Looks like a fun spot to host a party, thanks for sharing the rig!

    Suggestions for a corded microphone.

Lol, I have a version of that printed on a postcard that is framed in my office.

    Any SoundSwitch users?

I use SoundSwitch and the Wolfmix in different situations. The Control 1 is basically just a control device that will tell your computer which programs to run if you want to override it or overlay some special effects. But the Wolfmix is a standalone controller that does not need to be hooked...

    Suggestions for a corded microphone.

I like the Sennheiser e835 on my voice. The Shure SM58 is the industry standard for many applications. But there are dozens of options at different price ranges depending on the application. I think we'd need to know more (style of vocalist, application, budget, etc.) to give a more specific...

I just saw on GC website a controller costing $3,199!

If it moves to wherever you need light, you only need one, right? It's like a dude that only has one lightbulb taking it from room to room.

I just saw on GC website a controller costing $3,199!

The Opus Quad is such an interesting looking controller. I find the design language they have used on it to be particularly ugly... That isn't why I'd buy it or not buy it, but it doesn't sit right relative to my eyes. I don't think you have to ever define "enough" when it comes to gear. We're...

Interactive DJs Is anyone else receiving calls for Juneteenth parties? ... I am not interested

I'm not suggesting you change your values to accommodate a request. And I don't play dirty edits at a wedding either. All I'm suggesting is that if the CEO asks for something, they get priority of what I can possibly do. And at a wedding I will consider the bride the CEO. If nobody else...

Interactive DJs Is anyone else receiving calls for Juneteenth parties? ... I am not interested

I wouldn't ever shut down a request if the wedding couple themselves made it. When you're doing a wedding, it's important to know who the boss is. I specifically ask for the couple getting married to be the named party on my contract, even if mom and dad are paying for this specific reason...

There's a upcoming show that I will be the DJ at the show.

Most DJs have a similar process: The inquiry comes in > Consultation appointment or call > Contract and booked date > Planning appointment to review details and run of show > Perform gig > Cash the check. Mix's process is more like... A friend calls about a possible date > Ask them if the...

    Reunions Interesting Article

I haven't gone to a single one of my high school reunion events, and I live less than 8 miles from the school. There are even bars around here that I'll generally avoid because I always run into high school people when I'm there. For whatever reason, I developed much better long-term...

Was this post really about 2 gig inquiries? One said no, the other you are waiting to hear back?

Yeah, it's sampling Jump Around by House of Pain.

Best and worst according to DJ's

Maybe just a regional thing for some reason. I'm sure you've got things that work in your sets that I never play as well. But that's a definite head-scratcher. For a more EDM focused crowd, this is the version I play: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzPa5lRU3BE Maybe worth a shot if...

Best and worst according to DJ's

Similar to others that have responded, this kind of baffles me. It's definitely an older demographic that responds more to it now than the younger folks. I slip it into my oldies set as kind of a "don't worry, we're going to get out of the 70s and 80s" teaser. Do you remember how you were...

Name 3 songs that you always played all the time at events in 2013 that you never play any more.

Released in 2004. So a bride in her early 30s at this point... would have come out when she was early teen years. It's a fairly deep throwback, but the evidence has been good that it works.

Name 3 songs that you always played all the time at events in 2013 that you never play any more.

One song I brought back recently that has been getting really good reactions for me is Natasha Bedingfield's - Unwritten. I don't think I played this a ton at weddings in that era because I was playing so much faster stuff. But if you're looking for a throwback that a bunch of girls will belt...

Name 3 songs that you always played all the time at events in 2013 that you never play any more.

Most of the songs Ricky listed are part of that Pop EDM phase that was really big for a few years. Songs that he didn't mention that I was playing a lot but skip now most of the time... - Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO - Get Lucky - Daft Punk - Tik Tok - Kesha - Till the World Ends - Britney Spears...

How does an EDM club sync it's lights to the DJ?

I don't think anyone on this board does lighting at that scale. But there are a few things that could and likely are happening depending on the venue. 1) Traveling Lighting Designer/Operator - Big-name artists playing a club or festival will often have their own lighting tech travel with them...

Glad I wasn't playing this one

All the craziest situations are based on noise complaints... I had an angry neighbor living across the street from a venue fire their guns (just up in the air) to intentionally disrupt a wedding ceremony once. Needless to say... I didn't and won't go back to that venue.
