Never thought i would say this but back in the 60s and 70s they did music you can understand, like, and listen to plus not say what the hell did he say, just my opinion
What you're talking about is a time when artists for many of them they had real talent. Back then you didn't have the issue of seeing if a song was the clear version or not.

I think there was plenty of terrible music in the 60’s and 70’s too, just like most eras. We don’t remember them because no one plays them…..because its bad music. I love lot of music from this era, but man, a good bit of bad music trying to take advantage of the disco craze is one example. I think there is some good music from the disco era, but some reaaaaallly bad ones too. Rap is the same way, in my opinion

My dad thought the world was coming to an end in the 60’s and 70’s. He grew up in the 30’s, listening to Frank Sinatra/rat pack type stuff and Glenn Campbel/Charlie Pride. When my older brothers and sisters started smoking pot, growing their hair long, listening to David Bowie with his makeup, a band of men named Queen, guys named Kiss dressed up as god knows what, Lou Reed singing about transvestites, bands like the Beatles and Grateful Dead not being shy about drug use, he really thought it was over.
He couldn’t even remotely see how anyone could listen to that stuff😁

Every generation compares THEIR music to the music of the last generation.

It's just a fun game to see who has the most horrible music.

Truth be told, EVERY decade has great music and every decade has not-so-good and questionable SMH music.

But it seems over the last 10 years, with the proliferation of streaming and the availability of ALL music to almost everyone, we're hearing more of the good and more of the bad.

And auto tune ain't helping matters (or so called "artists") either....

Today? All you need is a phone...:sqfrown:
The Phone almost put an end to a good game of music trivia. Played music trivia at my casino event parties for extra chips.
Some corporate events the guest looked forward to the challenge. I could go back to the day , If you danced 3 minutes to the electric Slide you will have won 20 thousand dollars in extra Chips? IMG0012.jpg

98% of new music SUCKS and it has for a past couple of years
... says every successive generation ever since recorded music has existed 😉

You must admit as a DJ we make people dance, today's music you can't dance to it hell you can't understand what they are saying. Todays hip hop sucks and country for the last couple of years is more of the slower beat. I don't know about you but I like to see a full dance floor of people and that usually happens from older music.

I disagree with hip hop music of today not being music to dance to. It depends on the age group. People in their early 20's will dance to it and lose their minds. An older crowd in their 40's on up not so much for a lot of them. Some at that age group will go nuts for the hip hop of today because that's what they listened to and still do.

For me a lot of today's hip hop is boring and plain garbage. Yet it's not about what the DJ likes. It's what the client wants and their guests. If you're not good at playing today's hip hop or don't like playing it, then don't agree to do an event where that's what the client and their guests will want to hear.
