IMHO, it's much easier to do this standing on the dance floor with a wireless mic than from behind the DJ booth, and also helps "body language". The times I've done this, my son has been back at the laptop - I've never tried it solo even though Mixvibes offers an iPhone remote control app for Cross DJ. I'd sure love another button on the mic labeled "Push to Play/Pause"!!!

I remember thinking of something similar.
A remote (wireless) play/pause/next button that is either built into the wireless mic
or it is a "ring" that can be placed over it.

When I have a situation like that, I switch to the iTunes player since it has a nice remote capability that I can control from my tablet, phone or even my watch. Works great .. can adjust volume remotely as well.

Does the watch use a button (i.e. you can use it without looking at it) or a GUI like everything else?

I'm really surprised, given all the tech out there, that on one has never marketed a wireless device that easily and unobtrusively allows a solo mobile DJ/MC to control the music from the dance floor.

I can configure keyboard shortcuts on Cross DJ to utilize #4 and #6 on the numeric keypad to activate Play/Pause on Deck A and Deck B respectively. Bluetooth or USB 2.4Ghz wireless numeric keypads would then work - and I'm sure with a little trace cutting, I could disable everything else, so I could work it from my pocket without looking. The problem is under the best of circumstances it might work to 30' - for 100% reliability, probably a lot less.

Edit - I just ordered a USB 2.4Ghz numeric keypad, basically to avoid Bluetooth Pairing. I'll report back.

I had a lengthy chat with my neighbor yesterday. The party ended at 9pm (by contract). The open dancing began just after I left. In other words there was only 30 minutes of open dancing. He also mentioned that many of the guests didn't speak English very well and the DJ didn't translate enough of the announcements. Some guests didn't know when they were supposed to go up to the buffet and others didn't realize they could go back for seconds. And, many had never seen a photo-booth at a wedding before and thought that you had to pay for it so they didn't utilize it. He also felt the photographer occupied a lot of the schedule but the planner prevented the photographer from taking up even more time. He felt like the event flowed quickly. As a guest, I can tell you it certainly didn't. Nevertheless, he was happy overall.

No .. it's a touch button (like on the tablet). Once you paired it (via 4 digit code) to the player, it looks like this:

How does it actually communicate? I thought it could only pair with an iPhone?

I just configured two additional numeric keys in Cross. #8 Increase Master Volume, #2 Decrease Master Volume, so once I get the USB wireless numeric keypad, the only unknown is how far it will work.

IF IT WORKS, this will be a huge help. I often jump on the floor to dance with the Ladies!!

I assume it's WiFi, as it connects to my desktop and laptop and my desktop doesn't have BT. You run the Remote app on the watch, it asks for a device and gives you a 4 digit code. With iTunes running on the computer, iTunes senses the activity, shows a little icon of a remote, you pick it and enter that 4 digit code and now you can control your current playlist .. play/pause, next song, go back to beginning of track, and adjust volume. With the full remote control on an iPad connected to a laptop, you can even add/remove/rearrange songs in the playlist as well.

Well sometimes the sugar helps the medicine go down ... though I actually like iTunes for simple playlist activity.
