Throw your van keys in the river....that will make him sit up and listen... it seems to be the only thing he needs from you.

This is a family event I'm doing this for. I have over 6 months before this event is to happen. I've done enough events for the family I know basically what music they will want and far as the time for the event, not a biggie with the family.Do you have a contract and retainer/deposit. I mean if they respect you, and you want a better crowd... you should be operating with that.

I'm careful with someone I don't know. We used to go anywhere to do an event for anybody. We stopped doing that because we did questionable events in some dangerous places for people we choose not to deal with today.
As far as music goes some clients don't care if you play the songs with the curses in them and some will get highly upset if you don't. I've said this before, safety first today.
If he expects others ('partners') to operate with that, then he also needs to operate with that. Of the 6 items that he asks to proceed with a contract, he only has 4 answers.Do you have a contract and retainer/deposit. Reread what I said. I'm not worried about the other 2 things. I will get them long before the event date for sure. Not the week of.If he expects others ('partners') to operate with that, then he also needs to operate with that. Of the 6 items that he asks to proceed with a contract, he only has 4 answers.
Considering you are missing 2 of those 6, how did you come up with a price? If you have not discussed a price, then how can you possibly have a contract? If you have no contract, then what is the point of this thread?Let me say this. When a potential client contacts me I have 6 basic questions. What type of event it's going to be, where is the event to take place, what time is the event (that's so I get to know how many hours is the event), the date of the event how many people are expected to attend the event and what styles of music do you want at the event.
This so I can get a feel to see if I want to do the event before we talk about a price.
This question will go unansweredDo you have a contract and retainer/deposit. I mean if they respect you, and you want a better crowd... you should be operating with that.
This question will go unanswered
No not at this time as far as I know. They contacted my partner and he's handling things. I just don't like the way he does things. I should see him tomorrow. This question will go unanswered
And what, pray tell, has been learned...

NOTHING
The only 2 things missing is the time for the event and the music I'm to play at the event. So I'm way ahead of the game. Understand now. That's the respect I get. I'm not trying to get info at the last minute.
No that's it. Seriously. I can't think of anything off hand right now. If something else does come up I won't be getting it last minute. That's my point sir. That is not a show of respect.
I'd bet there are a whole lot of OTHER details that you don't have yet...
you just haven't realized it
Might be a good idea so you know how many subs and amps for the 50 people in the small room and the best place to set them up. Less surprises that way, and the venue might have a contract with the times of the event as well so you can find out what time you can load in all the equipment, what times they plan to host the event and how much time you have to load out at the end of the night.....might want to ask where the best place to park is, as well, so no surprises with transportation at the end of the night.I can even drive there to check out the room the event will be in.
I don't think I'm doing the event. I AM DOING THE EVENT! No this is a freebie. I'm doing this on the strength of me. I know you DJ God would never do that.Mix do you have a singed contract and deposit for the family party you think you are doing in October? If not then you are no better than your partner.
