I was talking with my best friends wife yesterday and found out their oldest daughter has a date set to be married on Thursday June 25th, 2020. She told me they put a deposit down on the place where the reception is to be. I don't remember the name of the place or the town it is in. All I remember is in NJ.

I was told they picked a Thursday because it's cheaper. Of course it is. I don't know who the DJ will be. It might be us and it may not be. Time to get ready to be there either as the DJ or a guest. Her fiance proposed to her on Thanksgiving Day. Her engagement ring is gorgeous! I'm very proud of her or should I say both of them. I just hope I don't cry too much. I've known her since she was born. She's over 30 now.

Personally I love it when couples plan their wedding this far in advance. I wish more couples would do this. I'm just excited for the 2 of them. One great thing. She picked the right one to marry AHAA!

Most couples do plan this far in advance, I already have dates in december 2020 booked. But typically the ones planning this far in advance are going to venues that are very high in demand... and usually cost more... as do the vendors they seek.

You said a mouth full there. Couples who are planning their wedding in a short period of time usually are picking a less expensive place for their reception. A VFW Hall or equivalent. What I've noticed is couples who plan this far in advance have a plan in place on how they will get the venue paid in time along with the vendors they get for their wedding.

Again the primary reason couples book that far in advnace is due to the demand of their venue. If they didn't care about a specific venue (theirs vfw's everywhere for example), they'd just save money and book when the money is saved. In the case i am mentioning, you're committing to a venue regardless of if you save the money or not. Typically you know you'll be able to pay for it if you're signing the contract... not hoping you'll be able to save for it. No one ever books the Pleasantdale chateau in West Orange at $300+ a plate 2yrs in advance because they need time to save... they book it so they don't lose it and know they can afford it. If you're trying to save to afford a venue that'll cost you $60k just for food, your priorities are all screwed up.

I have 5 or 6 booked for 2020 now all June July and August mostly people I've worked with before. The first one I booked for '20 was at least a year ago

Raise your rates. I really feel you (and your partner) deserve a full $300 on this one.
No if we do this one it would be my wedding present to the 2 of them. For me this is family. Me and her father have been best friends since 4th grade, 50 years we've been best friends.

I got to ask Taso a question. What the F*** do you get for $300 a plate at this place in West Orange, NJ? That has got to be the best damn food ever. More than likely food I would never eat because I'm a very picky eater. I know they have people come and serve each person. For that much they need to wipe my butt after I use the bathroom. LOL.

I can answer that... It’s not the food; it’s the plate... Food - $5; PLATE RENTAL $295 each.[emoji1]

You’re probably used to Chinette, but you haven’t lived ‘til you’ve eaten off a $295 rented plate... especially when they wash them first.[emoji1]

^^^^ This is DISGUSTING!!!

What the F*** do you get for $300 a plate

Perhaps filet topped with a lobster tail, prepared by a top chef, with a restaurant price of $38.95.
The remaining $261.05 is for the setting and manner it which it is served to you.

It's not the plate you want to focus on - it's everything that surrounds it.

For $300 do you get seconds and a doggie bag?
You really have no clue about this industry do you? You do know this place is 5 minutes from you too. By the way there’s plenty more in Jersey that are just about as expensive and maybe more depending on the date... Venetian, park savoy, park chateau, Rockleigh cc, Florentine gardens, west mount country club, etc. They keep raising rates, you can keep staying the same.

As pro mentioned, it’s not just dinner, it’s the grounds and photo ops available, the size of cocktail hour, the variety of options, the amount of options for dessert. It’s literally top of the line everything when you get to those levels.

I have no issues if the couple getting married can afford it and I think they can. I just hope they're not doing it with what I saw in a bank once. The sign said they do wedding loans. I say if you plan on applying for a loan to get married, you shouldn't be getting married since you obviously can't afford what you want to have on your own. I say go to the court house and get married. I know that on here many will disagree with what I said because we're DJs.

Why start out a marriage in dept? What this reminds me of is why some people get in trouble. They spend money on things either they don't need or can't afford. They work their butts off to pay for something but can't enjoy it because they're always working to pay for whatever it is to try to keep it.
