No, the connection should be fine. I do this all the time for a variety of things. The power of an XP computer is fine for a lot of audio applications, particularly DJing. It's video and live streaming that can eat up your resources.

It's also your software choices that can get you into trouble. To get the best performance you'll need older versions of applications. It can be hard to get these if you don't already have them.

Also depends on the mixer .. if it's a simple 2x2 USB audio stream, shouldn't be an issue .. If the mixer has more channels (my Rane is something like 10x12), ASIO drivers may be needed and that may be an issue on XP.

After some research I found out that the software for my new mixer (Soundcraft Signature10) needs ASIO drivers, so I will be looking for a new laptop soon.

And the snowball keeps rolling.
You can try the ASIO4ALL universal driver .. it runs on XP (and most versions of Windows) ... might work.

Also, the Signature 10 is a 2x2 (2 channels in, 2 out) and may work with the Windows audio driver .. I don't remember what XP xame with .. so another avenue to try.

The driver you need can be downloaded from Soundcraft's web site, and would run on Windows 7 or newer. Depending on the model of laptop you have, perhaps you could just upgrade it?

I bought a refurbed laptop not long ago, which is also a good option if you don't want to buy a new laptop right now. Less than $350 will get you an i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, 15.6" screen, and at least 1TB of storage in a refurbished laptop that will likely last you 2-3 years (maybe more).[emoji4]
