DJ Expo (Atlantic City) Aug. 14-17

My Dad wants to go, but it depends on the condition of his legs. He had been having bad leg cramp issues that started right before last year's DJ Expo. He had a real tough time walking around Atlantic City last year. I told him we could get him a electric Scooter! LOL...He doesn't want to be seen in a scooter at the DJ Expo.

I personally don't have any reason to go. The show special prices have become laughable for the most party...I can get the same deals on Ebay, and this year there is nothing more I really need. ...I am considering upgrading to newer Subs, but it's not at the forefront of my mind, and I don't really NEED to.

I will likely sit this year's expo out, but who knows. Maybe my Dad's legs will improve between now and then and he will really want to make the trip up there.

Rick, tell your Dad to ask his doctor for a script for 300mg quinine sulfate tabs, available through Canadian on-line pharmacies.

I used to experience terrible nighttime leg (calf, thigh, top of my foot, toes, ham string) cramps and nothing would make them stop or go away. My doc told me to go this route and now a year later, especially after a long weekend of shows, slap back a tab before bed time. Alllllllll gonnnnnnnee!

The cramps in guys my age are generally caused by too much coffee/caffiene, not enough water, and venous insufficiency (vein check valves going up the leg) are not working the way they used to.

OK .. I booked a room at Bally's .. got a deal at $114 (though not so much of a deal when you add in fees/taxes). Planning on Tuesday-Wednesday, but as mentioned before, my daughter is getting married that Friday, so if local plans change, I might have to cancel (free cancellation up to 8/13).

DJ Ricky B : Have your Dad talk to his family physician and consider getting some 300mg quinine sulfate tabs for those leg and arm cramps. Although not readily available in the states (if at all) my Doc wrote a script fillable on an on-line Canadian pharmacy. They are miracle pills for leg cramps.

Most often, those cramps are from too much coffee (or caffeine), extraordinary bursts of leg activity (such as an 8 hour DJ stint), not enough water intake (64 oz a day minimum), and age.

While these kinds of medical recommendations made on DJ forums need to be considered with huge amounts of salt, salt's no good for leg cramps either.

For the DJ Expo, I'm staying off-site (Holiday Inn Express, Black Horse Pike). Solo, king suite w/Jacuzzi, kitchenette, etc @ 137/night. Breakfast included. About a 15 minute drive away.

We are likely not going this year. I work during the week, and can't take off at my job on Tuesday and Wednesday (my busiest days). Secondly, my Dad doesn't want to leave my Mom home by herself. My mom isn't in good health.

My brother also doesn't have much interest in going this year either.

We registered just in case we change our minds days before the expo, but very unlikely we are heading up there this year.

OK .. as of now, my daughter's rehearsal dinner will be on Thursday, so I am coming down on Tuesday and staying over till Wednesday. Anyone still interested, the discount code for the Exhibits Only is still good for another 2 weeks (see above).

I'm staying at Bally's on the Boardwalk .. not planning on going to the DJExpo Pizza parties or Sausage Fests .. but am interested in meeting whoever is going for either dinner/drinks on Tuesday or lunch on Wednesday (possibly even lunch on Tuesday if I get my arse in gear earlier). I'll probably take off early in the afternoon on Wednesday (well after I finish my buying whenever that is :) ) since it's a 4.5 hour drive home and I need to pick up my tux for the wedding that evening.

Got my hotel booked. Arriving late morning Monday, leaving first thing (sunrise) Thursday morning.

Can we nail down a date, time, and location where we can show up together to say hello? I'm not adverse to midday adult beverages if everyone has solid evening plans.
 
I'm planning to head down Tuesday morning .. probably get to AC around 1pm or so and walk over to the convention. Probably too late for lunch Tuesday, but open for dinner/drinks Tue evening .. since I think the expo area closes at 6p.

Leaving AC after lunch on Wed .. not sure the time, but can also meet for breakfast or lunch Wednesday as well.

I'm staying on the Boardwalk at Ballys.

OK .. a week and a half to go .. hopefully you got your passes ...

Would certainly like to hook meet up with some of you ... Definitely open for dinner on Tuesday night or adult beverages after. Probably won't make it early enough for lunch on Tuesday (hope to be there by 1-2) but probably can do breakfast or lunch on Wednesday. I'm staying on the boardwalk (Bally's) which should only be few blocks from the convention center.
