Playlist & Game ideas for overnight teen lockin

The event is April 19-20. I'll let you know how it goes.

Playlist & Game ideas for overnight teen lockin

This particular group of homeschoolers is MUCH" more musically literate than any other group of teenagers I have seen. There are themed dances put on two or three times a years - I have chaperoned (but not DJd) four of these dances. So...the 60's, 70's, and 80's idea came from prior themes of...

Playlist & Game ideas for overnight teen lockin

I have an overnight homeschool teen lock-in coming in April. My kids will attend, and my wife is the main parent sponsor (which is how she found a DJ to work cheap :sqwink: ). 8pm to 8am. Ages 12-17. We are expecting 50-60 kids, plus parent chaperones. This will be held at a local gymnastics...

I saw this speaker yesterday in a church.

I had a pair of the Peavey SP5s back in the day. The thing I remember most is that they are SOLID...as in HEAVY AF - 70+ pounds! I slightly preferred the Yammie S115V for the sound - but they are nearly as heavy - 65 pounds. I eventually traded those for S112Vs + some subs. These were MUCH...

    Tweaking my sound setup

To avoid destructive interference between the subs, they need to be closer than 1/4 wavelength, or further apart than 2 wavelengths. At typical sub frequencies, that means within 2.5ft or more than 56ft apart. NEVER have subs between 2.5 & 8ft of a wall -- that will notch filter out part of the...

TIL...how to have iTunes actually group Album tracks correctly!

TIL....and I am sure that I am the LAST to know, but just in case... iTunes sucks (we all sort of know that). One reason that iTunes sucks, is that the behavior is often "random" in the sense that decisions are being made behind the scenes that are never fully explained. For instance, viewing...

To MAKE music what software do you use

I use Ableton Live as a DAW -- but I paid way more than $100. I use Maschine for simple beat and rhythm making. Reaper is free, and much better than expected for the price. I have used this a bit over the years, and it is more than usable as a DAW.

    Spotify abandoning Streaming

Back in the day, I bought boxed sets from Time-Life Music, Rhino, and BMG to build out my catalog of "oldies" and "classic rock." The warehouse clubs made it really easy to find "new to me" boxed sets for about $20 for 60 songs. I was well known (back in the day) for my collection of 50's and...

    Serato Users!!

It's a fun way to goof around...but certainly not worth $29, IMO. For FREE, yeah, I pulled it down (I'm not even a Serato user...but FREE stuff when I have some time on my hands...). The other DJ software I have used INCLUDE the keyboard hotkeys in the base package...and I have played around...

    Meta ID3 Tagger for Mac

I didn't really intend this thread to go this direction. I found and like Meta as a Mac native tagger. It does what I need and expect for my DJ collection. I have used MP3Tag. On windows I prefer Media Monkey -- which to be fair is FAR more than just an ID3 tagger. I have a number of MM...

    Meta ID3 Tagger for Mac

Good to know. The initial press releases about the new Music app were not explicit about that. As I said, I have avoided Catalina for other reasons and haven't had an opportunity to really root around in the new app.

    Meta ID3 Tagger for Mac

+1 There are not many things I like about iTunes, but Smart Playlist are one of the greatest things ever. Apples decision to kill iTunes and replace it with Music -- leaving all the major DJ platforms scrambling for some hack to get integrated again is not helping my desire to upgrade. That...

    Meta ID3 Tagger for Mac

If it works for you, by all means keep going that way. I STRONGLY prefer to have a folder & file arrangement that I manage. I DJ for professional dance competitions (think "Dancing with the Stars" only different dances). Keeping my music for each dance in a folder is ESSENTIAL, for me. Take...

    Meta ID3 Tagger for Mac

On PC, I use MediaMonkey as my main music collection manager -- and ID3 tagger. I have used "mp3Tag" and "mp3 Tag Studio" as batch tag editors in the past. But with some community scripts for MM, I have not needed to use those in years.

    Meta ID3 Tagger for Mac

I have recently switched from PC to Mac for my music laptop. I keep my music organized in a folder & file structure that I prefer to manage. I use MixedInKey during initial track prep. I DJ with Traktor. That much of my workflow will remain the same. On Mac, I have been experimenting with...
