Hi,

Was looking for new online communities to connect with and bumped into Our DJ Talk.

Got my first gear in 2004/5 and went digital in 2009. Mainly played in bars and lounges with no interest of getting big.
Didn't really do anything DJ related between 2014 en 2018 as I didn't feel I connected with the music as much as I did.
Got back on the wagon in 2018 when I was asked to DJ a party. Since then my love for House music has grown exponentially.
Occasionally having a gig.

My first gear was the Technics DZ1200. Which was great to use with Traktor. Added a Stanton turntable as I started to amass a vinyl collection.
Later added a SL1200MKII and loaned a friend the ST150 to make room for the 2nd SL1200. That's the moment I switched to DVS use.
I never expected to buy a controller but when the DDJ-1000 released in 2018 I had to get. That is also the moment I moved from Traktor to Rekordbox and completely immersed into that platform.

Music wise I started off with R&B and Rap as that was the music I already had. I learned about Broken Beat and got swept into this world. Met a lot of producers and artist who gave me insight on so many things. In 2018 I added House music to the music I mixed. Mainly Soulful House but also Deep House as I dove deeper into this world. Also trying to collect as much of the older House music because I feel that just hits in a different way.

Hi All,

I’m not a DJ currently; found this forum when I was looking into finding a DJ for a wedding near Hartford next August. Also looking for some old & new wedding song suggestions- especially father of the bride dance songs. I have three daughters & one son; my eldest daughter got engaged last week. Take care, RBSTWO

Welcome to the board and congrats. I'm not sure who we have from Connecticut here but quite likely there is someone who may be able to help. As for songs check our music forum there are a few threads there dedicated to wedding specific music

I don't know how to introduce myself so you get to know who I am, where I am from and where I want to go.

I will so then just tell the story that brought me to start DJing.

Years ago I got disabled and stopped to work and after about decade I did know what to do anymore and then I crashed in a virtual world named "SecondLife" (...). Then I was just spending all day staring at my alien avatar dancing in clubs with DJs. After a while I became very close to a club owner and other member of SL club community that told me I should give a try, then I was at entry level until they started to "Train" me to DJ but basically it is stupid they brainwashed me to download off YouTube using third party downloader/converter. and to only use the crossfader every time on every song. I wasn't really sure but I did until I found out the big lie they educate in that game and realized I really got screwed up not learning the right way...

I am here because I got the DJ fever and I can't never stop but I need to reset from the wrong way and learn the right way. At this stage I am learning to contact artist and stuff to discuss playing songs, also shopping website that allow download and right to play. At that time I am at NCS Release to restart my library that I threw in the lake.

I have a shoutcast configured with Mixxx but no hardware or controller on a basic "home" laptop.

I am really experiencing a rough time, I felt mislead or really induced with lies... Now I don't know what is real or not about what I can do and what not. What is legal or not, how to and all that.

This was a bummer and I got sick of these virtual clubs (Sansar and VrChat and SL) and want to upgrade to a real life dj lifestyle but have no idea about anything and all I thought that I knew is actually not even true... So I experienced form of DJing but now have to restart from scratch and get the actual real information aobut how to DJ and get music.

I don't want to write to much so I made it quick

Thank you and please don't ban me

Hello Everyone & Thanks for Welcoming me into ODJT!

I have been a lover of music since my parents took my pacifier away and I sang instead of cried. Fast forward to today where I have since learned to DJ and found a way to spread my love of music to others. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been a on-air DJ for the Stationhead internet radio app where I mostly play Hard Rock music shows. I am also a resident DJ on VirtualDJ Radio where I play EDM primarily Trance, Minimal Techno & Deep House.

I have some family up in CT. I'm about 11 hours away... if you're willing to pay some travel fees, I'll come up and DJ for you. :) LOL. ;-)

Hi all…I’m a mobile DJ in the south Jersey area….been doing this for almost 30 years now and still going strong.
