As an old ass millennial, this is me 100%, I hate, HATE talking on the now unless I have to and will always prefer email/text, I don't even answer the DJ phone line.........I probably should

Talking on the phone requires ACCOUNTABILITY and it's a quality lacking in much of society today. There's also a flip side to stepping back in this way - which diminishes the need for a person on the other side of that communication to be ACCOUNTABLE to you.

Absolutely there is a lack of accountability when using text based forms of communicating , but, its not always about taking accountability or the lack there of, some people, like myself, have social anxiety which makes hard to talk to strangers on the phone, so I prefer not having to deal that anxiety if I don't have to, and it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do about taking accountability

Sure, its easy to not take accountability over text base communication.

Yes it really is - which is why so many people presume that space insulates them and therefore over speak, exaggerate, distort, accuse, or outright lie.
Twitter is the ultimate example of people's brain farts posted from a perceived bubble of insulating security.


When other people are present in real time the formulation of our communication is held accountable because we are forced to anticipate the immediacy of risk and reflection form an already measured respondent.

Well, it kind of does because you are cheating yourself out of the positive reinforcement that comes from a successful interpersonal communication and reward of discovering your own personal power.

Giving into the anxiety increases it's hold over you.

I had a relative comment once that I could strike up a conversation with anyone, and that they could never do that. That was a surprise to me because I presumed that to be the reverse case.

But, ultimately over time I attribute that perception to stage craft and the fact that no matter how famous a person may be, or how large the stage - they, like everyone else depend on other people like you and me. If someone has to walk out there and solve a problem, and that someone is you - being cordial, authoritative, and awake to their needs is how you deliver accountability.

Its not that I refuse to have personal interactions with people, far from it, there are simply times that I would rather not and prefer to take the none personal method if that option is present. But I do very much like postive reinforcement that comes successful commuincations with people, it is very rewarding and re-affirming too if you will, I could never completly cut that out of my life, it just can hard to do it at times.

Twitter is a very good example, its the wild west of say what you want, facts be damned.
