Right now I have 4 events that I will be the DJ playing for each event. One is this Friday 3-25-22. 3 more on different dates and one is on my birthday June 2nd and that's on a Thursday. 2 more are pending. The guy that has us do the event in Branch Brook Park has 2 more events he wants done for him. Nothing is set until we find out the dates for the event and he agrees to the price we are charging him. one I understand us on Mothers Day at NJIT in Newark and the other is out somewhere in Pa. Nothing yet till my partner talks to him. He already has a price in mind for both and I told him to take care of that. So we will see what happens. Before I get beat up at least things are picking up a bit compared to this time last year. So please be kind. Have a nice day. I will post a great setup at a convention yesterday later today. I can only post pictures of the setup. Nothing else.

So the 4 you do have... how many are free lol

Glad things are picking up.

I only think about events that are booked. I listen to what they want and when, give them an offer. If they are not ready to book, that's fine, but we can't hold dates more than a few days, if we do at all.

Good to hear Mix! I am just working my day job until things pick up. Tomorrow I have off, and am heading down to Delaware to help my Dad with his Hand Dance Club job he has every Tuesday. He has to take things easy since he had heart surgery, and just needs some help lifting things and setting up/tearing down. My brother took over the gig while he was resting and healing, and has been helping him for months now, and needs a break from the drive so I am heading down this week to help him.

My next event is on April 23rd. I had one on April 9th, and it cancelled out.

Things have been picking up in terms of inquiries. Just today, I had 3 inquiries come in. However, I have not booked anything new in probably 3 weeks now. So hopefully will book a couple more events for this year shortly. If I book 6 more events this year including New Year's Eve, then I will consider myself completely booked for 2022. I still have plenty of dates in July, August, November, and December to work with to get there.

I was at lunch today. I returned a call from yesterday. A referral for a wedding next March. We talked about 10 minutes, including introductions,. I asked some questions, explained what she should expect, gave her a price, she said let's do it. I took a credit card, charged the down payment, and sent her the agreement to e-sign. Done. She sent back the agreement a few minutes later.

The initial wave of inquiries have started to subside. I hit 75 inquiries in the first 80 days of the year. Of those 28 have booked, with 2 more I'm certain will be booked but are just finalizing details (like choosing a venue for one of them). Of all the ones that I actually set up consultations with (about 33 meetings), all but 3 booked me. The remaining I either didn't have availability for, and a small number inquired without going to my site and didn't expect my price point (were for smaller generic events).

Now that things have slowed down, I'm revamping my offerings and how I present things. I just redid all my price catalogs with certain price adjustments, redid my pricing structure... aka NO MORE packages (all a la carte w/ bundling discounts), changed the photos and videos I present to prospecting clients, and eliminated items that are no longer selling (Tv's, older style photo booths, etc.) to simplify my services. I also eliminated time limitations on receptions (I only charge for overtime added on day of event). I've found that just about every event is either a 4 or 5hr reception, and that regional areas have different norms, so I don't want to be seen as nickel and diming some areas just because the norm is different... especially after raising my base price by 10%.

I'll use this slow time in inquiries to fine tune everything based on how the reactions are to the changes I've made and if I need to go back to packages or putting time limitations back. I think everyone should be doing this during the slow times to make sure they're ready to maximize the potential of the busy season.

He's in New Jersey area where things are happening .
My point is that he's worked very hard to get to where he's at. When he post things on here it can seem easy just reading his post. There's more to it. I'm proud of his success.

He does what he does and I do what I do. I'm not in competition with another DJ. Unless we're having battle of the DJs.
I agree with that statement Macho Man!
