I always considered oldies when speaking with my clients as what they’re parents generation listened to. It’ll be different for everyone. My sweet 16 clients have a different definition than weddings. Also the stuff that’s 20 years old… those are throwbacksLose Yourself by Eminem is now an oldie . Doesn't make me feel TOO OLD!
Best of luck with your retirement! About 10 years ago, my wife had a kidney stone. When they saw it on the X-ray, they noticed another spot that they said was probably nothing but needed to be checked out. It turned out to be an aggressive form of cancer that would not have been treatable if it wasn’t caught early. But since they saw it early due to the kidney stone, it was removed without any issues. We were very lucky and she’s been great ever since. So never really knew when I would call it quits but the decision was made in the last month that this will be my last year. Right after Xmas I thought I pull something in my stomach so I had a Ultrasound done and there was no tear but they found somthing on my kidney. Get it checked out and it was cancer caught extremely early and by accident (doc said would have been a couple years before it should up in routine workups). So this past week I had the kidney removed and should have no issues after that. With that being said I haven't worked since I found out and will not be able to for another 2 months because of limitations. All of my clients have been told and I have matched them up with good DJ's to make sure they get what they want and even offered refunds which no one took me up on. Now with all this going on I started to think about what I wanted to do and after talking with the wife I decided to call it quits after this year is up. I will fulfill all the gigs I can and will not take on any new ones. Life is short time to retire and start to enjoy what I worked for.
I will keep you in my prayers. Hope all goes well for you and me. I had to find out the day after my 63th birthday I have Prostate Cancer. So I understand what you're going through.
