I know we have talked about this in the past, and I have even chimed in. I don't have many requests, nor do I push the "add on" of Monograms projected on the dancefloor, but I was pretty disappointed in last night's setup.

The image looked perfectly white from one angle (the one standing underneath the projector), but when viewed from the other side (projector backlit), the image appeared green and if you walked around it would get less green until it was not (once you made 180).

I think this has something to do with the technology and physics in the LCD projector I am using. Do I need to be using DLP? Would LED have this trait?

What are people using for Monogram? I love the output I get from a Leko, but the projector way has so many advantages, although this was pretty embarrassing, and I considered offering the client a full refund.

It seems DLP is going away and LCD has taken over, and the laser will definitely be the future... but I should be able to find an affordable DLP projector with a wide zoom range 4000 lumens, but it seems rather hard.

Based on the image, I think you're seeing the same image but the colors are off because of the lighting. Looks at the floor tiles in both images and you will also see a different 'color'. 'White' is a combination of red, blue and green .. had you toned down the green (in the image), that might have helped from the one side and made it worse on the other side.

No, No, that is the white balance on the camera as it's different times of the day.. No lighting change fixes this. The coordinator and the photographer both commented that from the oppostie angle, it appeared to have a green hue.

This is easy enough to try out - load the same image and point it at a floor in your area.

Does it still show 'green'?

Is your projector connected to anything while displaying the monogram?

It does it at my place, but nowhere near as bad, so something with the material, color of a floor plays a big role. I am using the ipod connected to the projector, simply using the photos app.

Keep in mind, at the venue, I took a picture with NO lighting on (all house lights off). and it has the same effect, so that eliminated lighting playing a role.

It's just crazy it does it at the opposite angle, and not the other. Something about the way it reflects and bounces regarding the LCD in the projector.

Projectors are the way to go and only option I offer. I wouldn't have anything less than 5000 lumens. Optoma is my projector of choice.

alright, it seems that this is the replacement for the EH512:

I spoke with Optoma and told them about the green, and they said this can sometimes happen, based on the material you are projecting on, and that if it is not fully in focus, the reflected image (backlit) will look green or even red.

So on a dancefloor, ideally, you do not want to look at the image backlit, but of course, that is impossible as not everyone is on that side the whole time.
