I donā€™t recall playing therešŸ˜
That's because you're a rookie compared to them. Tony Humphries was the DJ who played in Zanzabar on Saturday nights in the 80's. Back then he was getting paid $1,500 a night playing there. He has been all over the world. Zanzibar was a legendary club that there are pictures and videos still online about the place. What messed things up was that the people running the club got deep into using drugs and turned the motel called Lincoln Motel into a welfare motel. So the club went way down with people getting their cars broken into and people getting robbed. Eventually the club name was changed to Brick City and was turned into a hip hop club with people fighting and some people getting stabbed.

When it first opened up you had to dress to impress to get in. Then a manager names Al Murphy came in and made it dress to sweat wanting to bring his gay crowd to come in there. I was still going there but that's when things went down once they did that. Same thing with Brokers Entertainment complex. The music got changed up, the motel became a welfare motel and it went from dress to impress to dress to sweat. The music got changed. A DJ named Gregg who played there for 14 years stopped playing there. He played downstairs. I asked him why he left. He told me they started fighting and shooting. The place is just an abandoned building and Zanzibar got torn down.

The amazing part, Bacon knows what he stated is fact. Crackheads & ladies of the night took the club down.
That's not all I said. I said how the managers changed things eventually helped to run those clubs down. I never said nothing about crackheads and ladies of the evening running the place down. The element changed along with the dress code. People who would have never been allowed to come in were being let in. The thing that hurts some places like I've said before is when an owner/manager gets greedy for money and let anybody cpme in their place. They stop being selective and just see another body in the place as more money to be made.

Google Mixy!! Good read with all the facts.
I went to both clubs and as far as Zanzibar I was there almost every weekend. I stopped going because one NYE they were being selective and asked me for 2 pieces of ID. I left and never went there again. I've seen many bars and clubs close down around here because they had a good thing going and eventually got greedy for money and let all types of mess come in causing all kinds of problems. When the police get tired of having to come back to a place because there's constantly drama there they get a judge to fine them enough money that they know the place can't afford and thus the place gets closed down. Most times for good.

Tunes , Your so kind. You must have added the roadies in your total count ?
What he said was fine. The first time not many people showed up. I wasn't upset. It was the first time ever doing anything that big. Just being able to do the event was amazing considering where I had come from and how I lost the business the first time around. Just being back in business was great. The second one was a big difference. It was a huge crowd!!!!! Well over 200 people. So the word got out about the first event and the DJs who played there.

50 people is not that big mucho man! Don't recall hearing about you losing the buisness?
Sorry to hear.

I said the next one was over 200 people. I didn't feel bad about the first one being a small crowd. Like I said being able to get it does was a big joy!
