  • No, but I would for $595 to $650 if it is logistically favorable for me to do it.

Unfortunately, the Micro Chip shortage is now projected to continue until mid 2023.

The car makers that would pay Net 90 to these Microchip manufacturers have basically been put on the back burner. That includes Ford and GM. That is their own fault for making the producer wait so long to get paid.

The car makers who have always paid up front/cash etc. Are in better standing. Toyota is in one of the best positions right now.

Ford has thousands of their new Broncos that are sitting in a huge parking lot waiting for "Quality INspection" ...what they are waiting on are some vital micro chips that need to be installed before they head out to dealers. Ford decided to complete the build on them, and park them until they can 100% complete these vehicles.

Problem is, now they have thousands of new vehicles just sitting out in the elements that will be sitting for some time before they make it to the dealers.
They got put there because they cut production last year and with the demand for everything else with a chip increased, when they decided they wanted to start production back up, they are no longer a priority. Cell phones/computers/ and so on are getting priority over automobile chips.

Toyota is no longer in the best position, they are cutting production too, the only reason Toyota was in a better position was they had a 60-90 day stockpile of select components, including chips, they mandated having this stockpile after the 2011 earthquake.

Challenge is finding new in stock. Ford is basically sold out of everything... Mercedes has a $5-15k markup for new suvs... and the g wagon can be as much as a $50k mark up. It’s just insane. I’m holding off for another year if I can.

It certainly isn't like normal but the Ford lot I was on had somewhere between 20 and 25 new units mostly F-150 and 250 maybe 2 Escapes. I don't think there was a half dozed used there. They also own the lot next door for used cars and there were maybe a dozen there. The other Ford dealer in town has even less new and basically no used in stock

I can see both sides of last minute...I have a weekend off, so I'll have plans. But then, I like money....

1) It's last minute and I'm available - so fill an empty date and it's like free money, so sure, work cheaper.

2) they procrastinated or had some issue that has created an immediate (and desparate?) need, and less planning/prep time for me, may have to cancel plans, so no discout and maybe even a surcharge.

There is no one right answer...

Back to the OP... I would not book a wedding in advance at that price but if they called me on a Monday for that Saturday wedding and I was open, I'd probably do it.

So for all what is your minimum charge for a 4 hour wedding? I will answer later.

You've asked this a billion times - please review the previous answers.
Let me say this please. Another member on here decided to tell me how much they charge and I don't remember asking them what they charge.

Now let me ask this. Is there a time and a similar that you would consider lowering your price to try to book an event?

I get that and understand you. Now there those on here who don't have another source of income and are at this full time. That DJ has to make a certain amount of money or they can't pay their bills probably become homeless. In my case I have another source of income and don't have to depend on the DJ business to survive. Now how's that for honesty?

If I never improved past the $300 Event Range as a DJ, I would have quit doing this a long time ago.

Anybody who is heading out to do $250 and below events today are simply doing it for love of deejaying and treating it as a paid hobby, OR they are simply desperate to make money.

Nobody quotes $250 to do an event and treats that like it's a good pay day to go be a DJ for 3-5 hours.

I would ONLY do this if I was desperate for the cash. 5 days out from an Open Saturday, and I have already made up my mind about having the day off of work to enjoy, and have already at least have an idea of what I am going to be doing for the day. NO WAY I am booking a wedding 5 days out all of a sudden UNLESS I am in a real need to make quick money...like this $550 means I can get my car payment or electric bill actually paid on time because I am so broke I was going to let one or both of those bills lapse. I haven't been in that situation in a very long time, and don't plan to have that issue moving forward.

I am of the mind set that if a Saturday is not booked 3 weeks out that I am going to have off that day, and I am not going to book an event at that point. That is just me though, and I also don't plan to work more than maybe 35 events per year moving forward. I have no plans to push 50+ events a year like I use to.

Because of how things have been lately, I'm commiting a crime as a dj. I offered my services to a co-worker to play music at her 4 hour wedding/reception, for no cost. I'll accept the firing squad now.

Better free than $250.
