Yeah, this is what I was following but in this video his hardware manager software instantly sees his LightRider. I can't seem to get the MDG box to be seen by the software. I've got the box plugged into my computer's usb with the provided cable. Not sure what to do about this.
This does require full admin access on your machine - might be why it's not working?

If I recall, there is a missing Windows driver to talk to the box. I remember being instructed to download the myDMX 3.0 (not Go) full app just to get the driver installed and then the hardware manager saw it.

On mine, the driver loads fine without the non-GO version. The usb cable seems to be flakey and I noticed that I could jiggle it and get the box to appear.

The driver was only for the Hardware Manager software. Not needed for tablet connection to the box.

Profile Builder and Hardware Manager are 2 different tools ... don't need Hardware Manager to download profiles .. should happen automatically if you are signed into your Light Cloud account.

Hardware Manager is used to update the firmware in the box and to change the WiFi settings.
Greetings from Raleigh. I’ve stumbled upon this forum after experiencing the same “Waiting for device to become available”. Damn I wish I’d researched this BEFORE buying a new $1000 iPad plus the MyDMXgo. In the 18 months since these posts, are you aware of any fixes? I’d have thought by now the bugs would be worked out of the app. Apparently not. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Steve L.
P. S. I’ve reached out to ADJ in hopes they’ll be able to help

The $300 iPad works as well since you can only run myDMX Go in the foreground. :)

But I've heard there is a new firmware version in the Light Rider Hardware Manager that also works with the myDMX Go box and is supposed to address that issue. I'll probably update to it once I pull the gear out of Covid-storage ...

So in my first foray into the MYDMXgo, I find that you cannot program banks and chases as you would in a standard/manual DMX Operator. Does the ADJ Airstream have that capability? I usually run lights while playing guitar and having the ability to tap tempo through 9 banks makes for a cool light show in a blink of an eye. From what I can tell the MYDMXgo basically can do that within a single preset, but doesn’t have the option to run a chase from preset to preset. Am I wrong?
BTW, not too impressed with the first impressions of the MYDMXgo and am considering upgrading to Airstream. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

I was having the same "waiting" message. Did a firmware update and problem solved. I have to admit, this connectivity issue has been very annoying to deal with.

MyDMX Go is designed for basic lightshows of PARs and moving heads ... the chases are pre-programmed and can only be modified by the options inside the ring (fan, speed, etc.) which can give some variety. Also it has automatic routines which will create a show without doing anything.

If you want tighter control over the output, you'd need to use a different application. Might be able to use the same myDMX Go box, but with either ADJ myDMX 3.0 or one of the Nicolaudie options like DasLight or SunLite.

Thanks Steve. Still working out the weird quirks on mine. Randomly one or two of the pars will stop responding to commands. Same with my pocket pros. Then I close the app, reopen and they work. Only issue with that is I use wireless transmitter and receivers instead of cables. So if I close the app, the quirks within the transmitter and receivers require me to unplug from all fixtures as well as power and reboot them as well. Not a major issue in my studio for testing but that’s not gonna cut it at a gig when my trusses are 20’ up. I may decide to exchange for either the Airstream DMX, or take the plunge on the whole Entec ODE/Luminair app. Not sure yet but I’d hoped the Go would be relatively problem-free. Not my experience thus far.
Thanks again for all your help.

With an intermittent problem, and one where you have wireless DMX, I think my next step would be to put cables to those units and see if it's really a problem with the app or a connectivity issue (more likely). I have a hard time believing that the app is the problem in that situation. One thing also, I have a couple of older scanners that simply don't work with this controller software. I see that as an issue with the device DMX itself, not the controller. I'd hardwire those devices to the box and test them out. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely try hard wiring it to reduce the number of variables. Fired up today and had a rogue pocket pro moving very strangely. I changed the address on the fixture and it worked perfectly. Everything else seemed to work well (for now). A tad mind numbing but with a couple of weeks to find any workarounds to these quirks before a gig, I’m cautiously optimistic. Thanks again. Steve

Nothing compared to trying to get a manual board (like my Chauvet Obey 40) to do special things like chases. It used to take many days of trial and error to get things to work consistently. Even without the main UI, just using the fixture tab with the virtual faders is sooo much easier.

MyDMXgo let me down Saturday night. Had a wedding to do. I got the unit out of its padded carrying case. Went to plug in the power to it and noticed the female plug on the unit felt loose. It would not power up. Luckily this was the morning of the event so I ran hope and took it apart. The female power connector on the unit had come loose from the circuit board. I could hold it just right and it would power on, but it was too finicky to trust for an event.
I got an RA # from ADJ today since it could be under warranty. Gonna ship it off tomorrow and see. If not, guess I will be looking for another unit to buy.

That sucks. I have started to pack it up without the cable plugged into the box as I've heard others with the issue.

I gave up trying to get my Obey 40 to work, figuring it out was well above my pay grade.

That's what I use, and it took me a while to be comfortable with it.
Which is a good thing, since at least ONE of my presets doesn't work each time I use it...
and I have to re-program it.
Still....once it is working, it has never failed in the middle of the gig.
