The lights came today but the box is soaking wet.

I ordered a pair of Martin Mania SCX 500 lights from Ebay for a little over $250 for both. I know they are discontinued and that's ok with me. If you need to you can order the bulbs for the lights on line. When I get back home I will check them out. Just have to struggle with the box because it's falling apart because of the storm we have here and all the rain in the area.

For someone with a physical disability (and collecting on it), you sure know how to stack the odds against yourself. How do you intend on using these?

Well I have to say I tried out both lights and one isn't working properly. The motor works but the light doesn't come on. I just emailed the seller. First time ever buying off of Ebay and something isn't working.

Try swapping the bulb with the one from the light that works.

You might need to order a bulb online.
Yes I will check and see. I sent an email to see what the seller decides to do first. They may have a bulb and can ship it to me.

How do you plan on controlling these? At minimum, they need a DMX board with a joystick to be able to control them properly (software DMX would be better) .. or you run them the cheesy way on "Auto" or sound active.

Instead of sending the lights back I just ordered a couple of replacement bulbs and plan on ordering 2 more tomorrow. I think I spent less than $20 or just over that amount. I decided to not send them back because I would have to pay for the shipping and I don't know how much that would have cost. They would possibly refund my money but that would have been minus the shipping costs.

I already know I'm going to take a beating on here for buying those lights because they are not LED lights.

What kind of events will you need to use those at that a pair of lightweight LED units couldn't do? And you still haven't said how you plan to control them.

Steve what do you suggest for a DMX light controller?
Someone knowledgeable about lighting?

Hardware wise, it might be a controller like the Chauvet Obey 70 or similar, with a joystick option. Programming will be a bitch on a mechanical controller, but might make it easier to access built-in programs.

Software controllers give more flexibility, but require someone to deep dive and learn about DMX, what CAN be controlled and building programs. Something like Light Rider or myDMX Go are a bit easier, but still require dedication.
