Since DJ Expo has been postponed until November, if you have a need for a summer DJ business get-together and steel country Pennsylvania is your summer passion place , well, this may be for you:

Date And Time
Mon, August 24, 2020
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM EDT

Location
American Club of Coplay Pa
300 Cherry Street
Coplay, PA 18037

Price $60 .. $50 before 8/1/2020 Ticket includes: Seminars, lunch catered by Mission BBQ, and beverages!

I'm working anyway, but I would not go if I were off.

...Actually, this may not be legal to occur unless it is held outdoors in PA. OR they are planning for under 25 people total to attend, LOL.

Governor Wolf stepped the gatherings rule back on Friday. No gatherings greater than 25 people indoors. However, outside, gatherings can be up to 250 people 😷

Not interested, for a few reasons:

1) None of these presenters are more or less successful than anyone right now. They might be experienced, but their topics are old.
2) Seminars about music programming and marketing are just silly when there are dance floors, no events, and no forseeable future.
3) The“Preparing for a Rainy Day” seminar, presented by a "Ramsey Certified Financial Coach". The website for BECOMING a Ramsey Certified Financial Coach actually has this in the FAQs:

What qualifications do I need for Financial Coach Master Training?
There are no certifications or licenses required.

Not to discredit Dave Ramsey... his general advice is good if used as a stepping stone to improve your situation, but beyond that, some of it is borderline stupid.

Anyways... this whole thing looks like an in-person event that should be an online webinar.

They mention pavilion, so I'm assuming outdoors.

My thought is they will be having it outside. I have to check into that. This is right near the Becky’s Drive-In movie theater, I go to all the time. Ten years ago we were thinking about buying a house in Macungie about 10 min away.

Not sure how PA is progressing, otherwise during the summer before the pandemic I was always in that area. So much to do, Dorney Park and two Drive-in movie theaters and plenty of hotels.

seminiars are usually just general info. with any conference I find the best info & part of it all is by direct networking. Talking to different people, hearing how they do things, then seeing if anything can translate to something.you are doing.
That is one thing I liked about when I went to the west events, we it was much easier connecting with people, on the east coast I usually just end up meeting with my regular contacts.

I'm still planning to head to AC for DJExpo in November .. It'll be a little easier for me to take off mid-week when things slow down (day job) in Nov. August will be tough at this point to move some of the things I was signed up for.

That's about 20 minutes from my house...
even so...I won't be attending.
I have no interest in paying $60 to hear other DJ's talk about what works for THEM.
(especially THIS year)

When you said "steel country"...I initially thought you meant Pittsburgh.
I was thinking of working it into a trip to visit my parents.
To be honest, this area is more like FORMER steel country.

Becky's pretty close too. They've been using it for church services for a few months.
There is talk of doing concerts there, which is great news for the production company I work for.
Used to go to Dorney every summer when the kids were young.
And yes, plenty of hotels, which is due partly to all of the colleges we have here.
(neither of which are doing well)
But the good news is...our COVID numbers are pretty low and getting lower,
so we are hoping for things to get better, soo.

I went for the first time last year with my kids - they loved it. We were planning to go back again this summer, but the park's only open Thursday through Sunday now and you need a ticket BEFORE you can even make a reservation to go on a specific day. That kind of makes it hard to plan a trip - I can't chance driving to Allentown only to get rained out. Plus, the water park's not open this year.

I'll get back there at some point. Fun place.

We used to get free passes from the radio station.
At $45 a pop with two adults and three kids...it was the ONLY way we could go there.
We always spent 90% of the day at the water park....
cause the kids were at an age where they were too big to enjoy the kiddie rides...
and too small to get on the big rides.
If you want try something different, with about the same amount of driving...
look into Camelback Waterpark in the Poconos.
A bit smaller than Dorney, but the lines were always shorter.
At that time, it was cheaper too...not sure if they are open this Summer.

Lol, we were almost neighbors I didn’t realize you were in the area. At one point we were there almost every other weekend. When we had season passes to Dorney Park, we would go to there for the afternoon, then Beckys drive-in during the evening, stay in a hotel then Dorney Park the next day. The other was the Drive-In movie weekend Shankweiler’s Drive-In Friday & Becky’s on Saturday. Or the house shopping weekend trips. Very Nice area if I have a layover when I am on the road for business we usually stay in the area too. But we are going to stay put now and travel. We got our taxes down, there will be much more room in house once the kids are out (fingers crossed) and I am enjoying going to the beach much too much now. The pandemic also has us using the backyard much more now. And that usually means I’m stuck cooking on the grill.
